What started as one... ended as two! Sister moms! Named Salt and Pepper! We could not leave Sister..

Salt gave birth over a week ago, and Pepper gave birth last night under the step during the storm. Salt brought her babies to pepper last night and was next to her this morning. They have already started sharing their babies. I believe Mama Salt doesn't have much milk to give as she is extremely emaciated.

Another Mama and her eight 1-week old babies needing rescue!

One attempt to go out for them was already made but mom was gone for more than a couple hours most likely searching for food.

Another attempt will be made today, this is a 2 hour round trip to just retrieve thenm. If anyone is willing to foster mom and babies for a week until a ride is found to Calgary please dm us!
We also need sponsors/donations for moms rescue and care. This includes fuel, puppy food, dewormer and more.

Unfortunately our beautiful man is paralyzed and will need to be put to rest... 💔

This is not an uncommon thing for this rescue, on average atleast 5 dogs a year are picked up and euthanized after being hit and not helped...

To help future dogs like him and give us the relief of stressing over the bills of it please donate to [email protected] 🙏

Another dog needing medical care for a broken leg. Ran over on Saturday night.

He is owned but is gonna have to be surrendered since the family cant/won't provide care. During his time with us In Meadow Lake he will need to be provided vet care. If you can please donate to this guy the sooner we can bring him into a Vets office in a nearby community!

He will need an xray, cost of the visit and pain meds, Approximately $200-250!

The mange siblings are doing SOOOO much better! They are ready for the next part of there journey, another rescue in Calgary that can fully vet them and find their forever homes!🩷

After searching all week we have been unable to find someone traveling from Meadow to Calgary but do have someone we can meet in Edmonton tmw!

Suffering doesn't even begin to describe what these puppies are feeling. This is mange at its absolute worst, and even though 2 pups were found, there is still a third. This brother and sister are already feeling much better than when these photos were taken a few days ago. 🩵🐶

These pups require a ton of cleaning and protective care equipment while caring for them ie. gloves, gloves and more gloves, laundry soap, bleach, and disinfecting wipes.

This puppy NEEDS help!

Suspected mange which can be treated with oral medication purchased from a vet.

After treatment and possibly not contagious anymore, she will need a foster. There are two types of mange, one is contagious the other is not, and we treat them both the same. Mostly infectious to people with weakened immune systems like babies or older people. In human form, it is known as scabies, which is also treatable by a topical lotion your pharmacist can provide.

We also need donations for our girl. She will need mange treatment, dewormer, and her first round of shots as parvo is big in her area of origin. If you can help, help her please etransfer [email protected] 🙏

This post is late and with sad news. Our most recent medical rescue didn't make it. Named Rory, this sweet puppy fought a long battle and, unfortunately, lost in the end. 💔

Devastated and heartbroken don't even begin to cover it. He was so sweet. He deserved so much more. 😞

Our newest rescues is wasting away.. puking and diahrea all night. Not eating and now not drinking. What started as bite wound has turned to parvo.

I don't know what to do anymore. Without Dyck now to take him in like he has for years and our other vet out doing farm calls, we cannot get him admitted in the Meadow lake area.

Turtleford is our closest option with treatment costs at $450 a day!

Two newest rescues! 🚨🚨

The older pup was attacked at Canada Day celebrations by another large dog. He is in extreme pain right now, but within 20 minutes, he had pain meds in him and ice on his major wounds to minimize swelling. The attacking dog used his leg to throw him around, and hopefully, it is not broken now.
The younger pup was given to us after it's sibling was killed by an older dog this morning.

We are looking for a foster for the smaller pup for a couple of weeks if anyone is interested.

It seems like this just happens more and more.. someone gets an older dog off kijiji or Facebook, and then it gets sick soon after or always was.. people dumping a pet they don't want to spend any money on. Even just the cost of euthanasia.

This poor dog was sold from Alberta with her bonded mate, and she came limping slightly. It got worse and worse, swelled, but the new owners didn't have the money to pay for the vet. They assumed she stepped on something, and that was causing the issues.

Fearing the worse because she was over 7 years old, slow months progression, major pain, and not even slightly putting weight on the foot. I approved the charge on our bill at Woodland for her to be xrayed and examined immediately. Worse was confirmed with progressed bone cancer. Her entire shoulder was morphed into this horrible mess, the pain unimaginable. Think about the bones in your shoulder slowly turning to needles and each press of the skin pushing/piercing into it. Unfathomable.

For months she lived with this, this poor dog. Immediately approving a humane euthanasia for her, she needed to be set free of this pain. But who covers this $350 bill?!? The rescue. We have just over 24 hrs to finish the remaining costs of her bill. Please, if you could donate at this time, you can do so by etransferring [email protected]

Our vet is closing in T- minus 3 days, and we still have to pay off our outstanding bill of $536!

This bill is from a collection of many things, various medications and vaccines, and an owned dog euthanization we could not see suffer anymore with progressed bone cancer . Just some of the not pretty side of rescue. 😔

Adoptable Ollie!

Our boy Ollie is really in need of a home of his own! He has been in care since Christmas 😞

From his foster:
He is a very smart dog, he understands, sit and lie down, and goes to his kennel when asked, he’s walks well on a leash, and his personality is lovey and goofy. Perfect around children and completely non reactive. I have a rabbit (in a cage), and he’s never attempted to get at him. Very treat motivated!

Ollie looks to be a German shepherd mix. He is medium-sized and does well with all other dogs.
He will be booked for a neuter In the next few weeks here. If interested in meeting Ollie, he is with his foster in Cold Lake.

This dog has showed up again in Waterhen Reserve. The owner does not care to help him. 3 months he has been suffering this way... he needs relief from his pain.

Would anyone go rescue this poor boy and bring him in to the vet in Meadow Lake ? 🙏

Mama, now named Maggie, is doing awesome today! Something strange was seen in her uterus on the x-ray, and she needed to go into emergency surgery late in the afternoon. She gave her babies one last feed, then went straight in, and 4 hours later, she was beyond happy to reunite with them looking better than we have ever seen her. All tail wags! 🐶

We had hoped Mama would let us give her pups to her in smaller groups to make it easier for her while in recovery, but she demanded all her pups back immediately! 🥹 The object inside Maggie's uterus was her uterus itself, full of pus. She was also tremoring from possible calcium deficiency, so she received fluids and calcium through an IV.

I just want to thank Dyck and his team for working into the evening. He is always there for the dogs, and I don't know what we will do without him for the dogs at the end of the month when he's gone, but I know what he's done. ❤️🩷 Decades of dedication to these animals.

Also thank you to all the donations helping with Maggie and her 7 babies care. SO, SO appreciated!

Our mom is not doing well..

After cleaning her up it was quickly realized her awful smell wasn't just the mess on her behind and fur. She has a uterine infection causing her to leak awful fluid. She isn't eating and is depressed. This afternoon she goes for an xray to make sure no babies or placenta were left inside her. Despite this she is still feeding and caring for her young. Rez Dogs are so strong and resilient. 🥺 😔

Mama of the 3 orphans has been located!

Meaning another 2 hour round trip to collect her and the other siblings. She also looks to be in quite rough shape, very dirty and skinny. She will need lots of food and dewormer the next couple wks. Something really weird is happening. This male dog keeps bringing newborn pups home. Until the mother is tracked down by following the male or more babies can be heard we need to get these 2 to Meadow aswell for bottle feeding.

Anyone able to bring 2 more newborns to Meadow lake from Waterhen reserve??

Our lil girl is here! So far she's doing good. She's only 2-3 days old as she still had her unbilical cord nub.

We have already purchased her a heated heartbeat teddy, formula for a day or so, and paid for the rides gas to bring her from Waterhen. Orphan pups and rescueing in general can become very expensive.

A full tin of formula is $20, she will also need a lot of paper towel and new bottles as the ni**le hole on ours has become too large with use on older orphan pups in the past.

Another dog in critical need!

A concerned community member reached out after seeing this poor guy and his MASSIVE leg! Most likely, a bite wound unttended and now incredibly infected. We have already learned he has been like this almost a month. We do not have this dog in care yet but have learned where he hangs out and have another community member looking for him now!

He needs a vet, painkillers, and an exam and then we can decide what's best for this guy! We don't know what that will be at this time, but we know he will need some treatment or relief! With an already past due $800 bill and Woodland in Meadow closing next month we need funds to cover his full costs TODAY!

This puppies skull is CRUSHED! Most likely from a dog attack and now is suffering immensely, she will pass away eventually from these wounds.

This puppy is a stray and needs to be humanely euthanized, costing around $160-180 at the closest nearby vet.

Looking for a ride for good ol' Ollie!

Our boy is being transferred to a partner rescue group, Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation in Calgary, Alberta, for the next stage in his life.

Surviving starvation and being all on his own, he is one of the most well-behaved dogs ever had in care. He walks like an absolute dream on a leash. He is such a well-mannered boy and ready for his furever family!

Our boy needs a ride to Calgary if anyone is going from Cold Lake, Alberta and could give him a lift.
