Owner Trained Service Dogs are somewhat akin to one building their own new car in a back yard garage. The odd Tesla equivalent may appear, but with most, ‘results may vary.’ Therefore, the ongoing involvement of a specialist trainer is strongly advisable, to prepare for evaluation by an Alberta Government authorized Service Dog assessor. https://www.alberta.ca/service-dog-upgrade-training.aspx

Covid-19 and our primary goal, awareness of the Service Dog Act: To do this we have been visiting rural villages. Even masked, gloved and in the open all local measures must be followed.

Cypress Canine Society is experiencing a notable increase with folks seeking to have their own dog certified by the Government as a Service Dog. We urgently require a volunteer to maintain ongoing contact with these patients by telephone.

The successful volunteer applicant will report directly back to our Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will be someone who can spare time to chat with handicapped folks on the phone. This is a very fun and interesting position.

Location is unimportant as the majority of our work is done by telephone and internet.

Media confirmations are coming in for our upcoming Tuesday, nine thirty on the grass Zoom meeting. A great place for trainers across Canada to offer expertise in our common goal: Service Dog accessibility for folks with disabilities; wanting Government Certification for their own animal.

Drop by if you are on your way to Alaska from Missouri. We are just off the #1 Trans Canada highway on 13th Avenue, Medicine Hat, AB Canada, on the grass by Giant Tiger. No sightings of Carole Baskins to date.

Cypress Canine Society is a group of volunteers who generously give their time to assist severely handicapped Albertans prepare their dog for Government of Alberta Service Dog certification. We are unfunded.

Through this pandemic we have continued our front line work, ensuring our clients are safe and have food. One of our outreach workers, herself on AISH just had total cell phone failure. For her safety, we need something that supports voice, text and a location tracker app.
