Ticks are sneaky critters that can latch onto dogs during outdoor adventures, potentially causing health issues like Lyme disease. Fear not! 🚫🕷️Here are some tips to keep your pups tick-free:
🌿 Check your dog for ticks after walks or hikes, especially in grassy or wooded areas.
💊 Consider using a tick prevention product like Bravecto – it’s easy to administer and offers long-lasting protection.
🌳 Keep your yard tidy by trimming grass and shrubs to reduce tick habitats.

As we cherish our older furry friends here at Kells K9s, I want to share some tips and tricks for ensuring the golden years of your K9 companion are filled with joy and comfort. 🤍
🦴Regular Vet Check-ups: Just like us, senior dogs may need more frequent check-ups to monitor their health. Schedule regular visits with your vet to catch any age-related issues early.
🦴Tailored Nutrition: Aging pups have unique dietary needs. Consult with your vet to ensure your senior dog is receiving the right balance of nutrients to support their changing metabolism and health requirements.
🦴Exercise at Their Pace: While exercise is still essential, it’s crucial to tailor it to your senior dog’s abilities. Gentle walks and low-impact activities help keep them active while being mindful of their joints and energy levels.
🦴 Comfortable Environment: Make adjustments to your home to accommodate your senior dog’s comfort. Consider adding ramps or steps to help them navigate stairs, provide soft bedding for achy joints, and ensure they have easy access to food, water, and rest areas.

Snow brings out the best in these guys! They’re either rolling in it, running through it, or scooping up mouthfuls. 🤍🤍 It can however be a harsh season on them at times. Here are some winter reminders for our furry friends!
⛄️ Paw protection: Use pet-safe paw balm or booties to shield their paws from icy surfaces.
⛄️Cozy gear: Invest in a warm, waterproof coat to keep them snug during chilly walks, especially for short haired or small breeds.
⛄️Hydration matters: Ensure they stay hydrated, even in colder weather.
⛄️Shorter walks: Adjust the duration of walks depending on conditions to avoid over exposure to the cold.
⛄️Dry off: Wipe their paws and belly after outdoor adventures to remove any ice or salt.
⛄️Indoor play: Introduce fun indoor activities to keep them active on frosty days.

MY FAVOURITE HOMEMADE DOG TREAT RECIPE (save this post to make later!) 👩🍳🦴
½ cup pumpkin (I’ve also used banana)
¼ cup apple sauce
2 tbsp peanut butter (no sugar)
1 egg
2 cups flour (should be whole wheat)
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp baking soda
1 tbsp bacon fat (optional)
Beat pumpkin, apple sauce, peanut butter and egg then add flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix well and roll and cut into shapes. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
Not only can store bought treats get expensive, but they can also have weird ingredients your dog doesn’t need! With these homemade treats you can rest assured knowing exactly what your dog is eating. 💕 Let me know how yours turn out!
