So the reason I do exercises like these....
When you give them lots of freedom they can start to push boundaries a bit. When you have reactive dogs in your packs (reactive with animals they don't know, amazing with animals they do know) it can be dangerous. There are times I need them to listen to me for their safety. Practicing when there's no distractions around helps prepare for when there are. Reps reps reps. Like sports, reps teach them to just do. So when I ask them in a situation there are distractions (horses, deer, bears, etc) they hopefully will just do what I'm asking.

Today was bootcamp day! Just decided to spend the day for both groups tuning up some things. They've had quite a bit of freedom lately and I noticed some of us could use a bit of a tune up with listening to commands. They did pretty well!! Not perfect, but they were all working hard!

Fewer photos for the Thursday afternoon crew. One of the dogs lost their sister to cancer and she has been down ever since so a lot of my focus went to her yesterday. Mr Cato joined the Thursday afternoon crew though. He was happy to be out with the girls😏

Hi everyone! Sorry for the late notice! I am possibly going to shorten the hikes a bit tomorrow due to intense heat we are supposed to be getting. We will see how it goes once we are at our hiking spots. We will be going to water spots that are in the shade but just wanted all the parents to be aware! Again, apologies for the short notice! Between car problems and vet appointments my brain is 🥴🤪

Had a nice hike with these guys today. All got to have a good romp in the forest. They were tired by the time we got to the top and had a little rest. Then we made our way home, dropped them all off and my car died😆 so hikes for tomorrow unfortunately are canceled. Hopefully will be back on for friday. I will update everyone tomorrow evening for Fridays hikes.

Wednesday crew! We had a scary day today😣😣 we had a momma bear and 2 cubs wander across the path about 40 meters ahead of us with everyone off leash. With a pack of 4 reactives, was really quite alarming. I yelled at everyone to stay and grabbed their leashes as quick as I could and held everyone until the bears ran off the path. We definitely startled each other. Thank God nothing actually happened. But will definitely be on edge for the rest of the week 😅

And here they are

So to touch on my last post with introducing new dogs. Here is a video! Here I have the 2 dogs that already know each other on one side. Charlie the pressure sensitive shepherd on the outside with johnny on the inside. And Miss Molly on the other side. We just walk and let everyone get used to each other's energy. Later I moved pressure sensitive Charlie to the middle of the group. And let her get used to the pressure from both sides and Miss Molly's new presence.
