In our latest 'We Are Halifax Stanfield' feature, we're thrilled to introduce Laurie Francis, owner and operator of Air Buddies Pet Services, located at the airport. Air Buddies offers exceptional care for pets and unparalleled convenience for travellers. Laurie's inspiration to start the business sprang from her own experiences as a business analyst at Jazz Aviation, where she struggled to find suitable boarding for her pets while travelling.

“I have dedicated over 25 years to animal training and care. Like all entrepreneurs, my job varies depending on the day’s needs - from working with clients on reservations and facility tours to checking in and checking out pets to cleaning the facility and exercise yards. Our top priority is keeping all our guests safe and happy.

“My favourite part about my job is getting to meet lots of different animals and people who entrust me to care for their pets while they are away. This is a big responsibility since pets are very much a part of people's family. Best of all, I get lots of fur baby snuggles and playtime!

“I am proud of the space we have built since opening in 2022 and how we are contributing to the innovative and customer-focused place that Halifax Stanfield is. We are growing so much with the support of the Airport Authority and community that we are already looking to expand our capacity and services to better assist our customers.”

Air Buddies offre des services de soins exceptionnels pour les animaux de compagnie et une commodité inégalée pour les voyageurs. Les expériences de Mme Francis, à titre d’analyste des activités chez Jazz Aviation, où elle peinait à trouver une pension convenable pour ses animaux de compagnie lorsqu’elle voyageait, l’ont inspirée à lancer son entreprise.

« J’ai consacré plus de 25 ans au dressage et aux soins animaliers. Comme pour tous les entrepreneurs, mon travail varie en fonction des besoins quotidiens, des réservations et des visites des installations avec les clients aux enregistrements et aux départs d’animaux de compagnie en passant par le nettoyage des locaux et des cours d’exercice. Notre principale priorité est d’assurer le bonheur et la sécurité de nos pensionnaires.

« Ce que je préfère dans mon travail, c’est la possibilité de rencontrer de nombreux animaux différents et que des gens me confient leurs animaux de compagnie pour que j’en prenne soin pendant qu’ils sont en voyage. Il s’agit d’une grande responsabilité puisque les animaux de compagnie font partie intégrante des familles auxquelles ils appartiennent. Mieux encore, je profite amplement de l’affection et des jeux de ces bébés à fourrure!

« Je suis fière de l’espace que nous avons bâti depuis l’ouverture en 2022 et de la façon dont nous contribuons au lieu novateur et axé sur la clientèle que représente Halifax Stanfield. Nous connaissons une formidable croissance avec le soutien de l’Administration de l’aéroport et de la collectivité, à tel point que nous envisageons déjà d’augmenter notre capacité et d’élargir nos services pour mieux aider nos clients. »
