This beautiful lady is Minnie!

Minnie joined us over a month ago when she was posted through Ruby Ranch Pig and Farm Animal Sanctuary. They got a request from Minnie's mom to help find her a new home.

Minnie was born in February on a family-friends farm, and she was in dire need of intervention. They quickly took her home and hand-raised (bottle fed) her. Unfortunately, her living situation was less than ideal as she grew up, and they wanted to ensure she had a forever home where she wouldn't be bred or butchered.

She required a lot of decompression time and patience as she learned how to be a sheep. When we finally did introduce her to the herd, she acclimated seamlessly and loves all of her new friends.

Bruno | Long-Term Foster

Bruno is one of the survivors of the horror hoarding house in Burford, ON rescue back in October 2021. A grand total of fifty-two (52) dogs, four (4) cats, and one (1) turtle were removed from the home.

Thankfully, Bruno is 'mentally sound', although he does have his quirks. We never intended to have Bruno as a long-term foster dog. However, we had tried him in another foster, and he digressed immensely; growling, excessive barking, broken house training, etc.

We brought him back here after a couple of months, and all of the bad behaviour disappeared overnight.

We chalked it up to him being MUCH more comfortable surrounded by a pack of dogs, similar to the environment he grew up in. Bruno doesn't know any personal space and is often lying on top of another dog.

We love him 🩷

Wylie is a STUNNING young lad, who is the last of his siblings looking for his forever home. He is a true husky and is quite stubborn, but he is loyal to his people on the shepherd side. He has shown some resource guarding with some other dogs, which we are working on. Right now, he gets higher 'prized' items in his crate. Wylie would do well in a home with a firm handler, as he will take advantage of situations - but he is a sweetheart and is insanely smart.

Everyone who meets him raves about his looks, but he does have more to offer than that!

His mom, Sidney, is a stunning Blue Heeler who was surrendered to the Windsor SPCA when she was heavily pregnant due to behaviour changes that were undesirable to her family. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Sato Saved took Sidney in a week before she gave birth to her babies.

This little gem is Toast! He is smart as a whip, food motivated, and loves his people and other animals! We are currently fostering him and his two sisters (who will be introduced soon).

These puppies have been amazing, and admittedly, Toast WAS my favourite, haha, but he has some vocal cords on him, and crate training has been a joy! Just kidding, despite his protests, he is amazing.

They will be amazing additions to any family/person looking for a well-rounded dog!

Coco was a victim of being dumped at a high kill shelter with a litter of puppies at barely a year old herself in 2020. A rescue who regularly imports dogs to Canada found a foster for her and her babies in Texas and pulled her to safety. Then, all of her pups, one by one, got transported and adopted to Canada. But Coco was left behind with the foster, who had many other dogs as well. She wasn't spayed. She wasn't given any heartworm prevention. She was not given a ride to Canada, instead she ended up living with that foster through to her next heat cycle and became pregnant, again, this time by one of the foster dogs in the home. 🤯

After giving birth to her second litter while in foster, all of those puppies were also brought up to Canada... however, Coco was spayed and left behind with yet another foster. Coco had no home lined up. Coco had nobody advocating for her freedom. Coco was essentially abandoned by her saving rescue after they took the adoption fees for her babies...

Sato Saved does not import dogs often, but when they do, it's important. Sato Saved will ALWAYS put emphasis on Ontario dogs first, but Coco needed help, and she marks the second dog brought up from the states for 2024.

When Coco arrived, she was immediately taken to the vet for a quick check up and lone and behold... she was heartworm positive. Treatment was started immediately, and her continued treatments are fully covered by the rescue.

Oliver is a dog we shared back in March of this year, where he was saved in the brink of time from euthanasia. Declining in a shelter environment after being found a stray and remaining unclaimed, he was mere hours away from losing his life.

Oliver, as soon as he was brought into the rescue, went right into a board and train to decompress and work on his social skills.

Oliver is now done with his board and train, and we are actively looking for his forever home now!!

He has learned basic obedience, how to settle, and more appropriate dog interactions. He's really blossoming into a good boy, but he needs an adopter committed to keeping him active and having structured fun.

This stunning boy is Bolt.

Bolt is the epitome of a Shepherd breed, loyal to his people, endless energy, and obsessed with his ball.

Currently, Bolt lives with a dog-savvy cat and older children. He resides on a farm and is loving life. Bolts family is looking to rehome him as he struggles with the 'pick-up-and-go' lifestyle.

With young children, they are often going on road trips, and Bolt has shown that those experiences aren't something he enjoys. He struggles with his over-excitement and leash skills. We believe he could be fine in the future, but patience and consistent work on his behaviours need to happen.

Additionally, Bolt has been experiencing some stomach issues. He has been to the vet for extensive testing, but it has yielded no answers. We have found out that he has been on many different foods since the family took him in (2-months ago) and this too could be the cause of his upset stomach - even though it was to try and figure out the issue.

This sweet boy Pepper is your typical Retriever x Lab cross - he loves his people and loves attention. Pepper has become homeless since his dad has ended up in hospice care.

He knows how to sit, stay, and shake a paw. He is fully house trained, and his recall and leash skills do require work, but overall, he is a good boy.

Pepper is an undersocialized dog. However, we have dog tested him briefly and showed no signs of aggression but more eagerness to sniff and play.

This handsome lad needs to lose quite a bit of weight (and by a bit, we need a lot), so his new family would need to be committed to ensuring proper exercise and food intake.

Pepper is / will be fully vetted before the end of the month, so there will be no cost upfront for the new family.

Right now, a family friend is handling the rehoming of Pepper, but we and some other people are working hard to find a placement for him.

The emergency intake (mom and kitten) we took in last weekend from Markdale, are settling in! We have named the mom Lime and the wee little kitten Lemon 🍋🍋‍🟩

This is a public service announcement that we do NOT take in cats, we help place cats when we can and we will transport cats, but we are not set-up to take in owner surrenders/dumped cats.

Everyone has wait lists right now. Some are longer than others.

So, if you are moving, please take the ample time it takes to find placement for your cat (or dog). We do not appreciate being guilt tripped into taking your animals because of threats of drowning, etc.

This little nugget and her mom are safe. My dear friend, , will be fostering them at the end of the week until they are fully vetted and ready to find their forever home.

Throwback to the best travel companion ever, and why not travel with a goat in your coat?

Wyatt came into my life when I needed to heal my soul.

When we took Wyatt in, he was roughly 2 weeks old, so he needed to be fed every couple of hours. During the first few weeks, I was doing multiple trips to Brantford and surrounding areas for the foster dogs, which meant Wyatt needed to tag along!

We had it down pat, he was such an amazing traveler.

I had just bought the Cabelas jacket from , and it was perfect. There was just enough room to tuck him in, and he would fall fast asleep during the long trips. 🚗

Plus, look how STINKING cute he was (he still is).

This sweet, beautiful, fawn-colored lady is Myrtle, and many of you may recognize her from last October when she was surrendered to Sato Saved by her breeder when she needed extensive medical treatment.

Myrtle was unfortunately born with two defective degenerative eyes.

At the young age of 7 weeks, the decision was made to remove her 'worse' eye and see a specialist to try and save the other one. Despite all of the efforts and being in so much pain, the most humane thing was to remove her other eye a couple of months later.

Myrtle, being eyeless, knows no different and actually thrives in her environments. She is a quick learner and learns routine like a star.

She is such a great dog, but her biggest issue is jumping up, basic obedience would need to be worked on in her new home, as her Cane Corso breed makes her stubborn so she needs a firm handler.

For those of you who have met her, she is a curious and spunky girl! Her and Annie are almost 2-years old (how time flies)!!

Ethel isn't the most snuggly cow and is VERY vocal with her head movements, and you do have to be careful around her with her horns.

Handsome Gilbert, he is true and true to his breed. He is insanely loyal, smart, and just wants to please his person.

Gilbert came to Sato Saved as an owner surrender. He wasn't in an environment that was ideal for him, and he needed help. He was stuck in a crate more often than not, and he was left in there urinating on himself (evidently covered in yellow stains).

Gilbert has made massive strides in his crate training since being in foster care and now openly goes into his crate when it's time. He is no longer making a mess!

Gilberts biggest downfall is that he has some stranger danger. When meeting new people, he will cower, back behind his person, and bark. It's all noise, and he doesn't take long to warm up to new people.

Gilbert doesn't have much herding tendancies... however, he can show this when playing with new dogs.

A lot of people have been asking for an update on the stray dog found in Flesherton a few weeks ago!

We took her in on Friday, June 14th, for her stray hold through James Special Services Animal Control for Grey Highlands Municipality.

She officially started her stray hold on Monday, June 17th. Unfortunately, to no avail no one came looking for her, and we were unsuccessful finding her home.

When she was found, we did have a few people reach out with interest in adopting her (which was great). After her stray hold was completed we began reaching out to those people on behalf of Animal Control.

This little lady we have named "Dog" will be getting adopted on Monday, July 1st, and her new name will be Penny. They are a lovely young family with property and have another dog for her to play with!

We are elated she has a new family to call her own and wish them the best of luck. Penny is being adopted through James Special Services Animal Control for Grey Highlands Municipality.

The importance of having a collar/tag and even a microchip is imperative in helping reunite lost pets. Although we don't know what her story is, we are hopeful she wasn't intentionally dumped. However, this wouldn't be the first dumped dog in our small town this year.

Breed: Boxer x Bulldog x Lab
Size: Medium / Large

Princess has had a bit of a turbulent start to her life. She was originally taken in by a rescue called 4 Lucky Paws, Peterborough. Unfortunately, this rescue was anything but legitimate and was ultimately taken to court under animal abuse charges. Princess was one of the dogs that was included in the lawsuit, and when she was pulled from 4 Lucky Paws, she was transferred to Misfits Dog Rescue, Wingham.

Sadly, not long after, Misfits Dog Rescue went 'under', and they abandoned all of the dogs in their care in fosters homes with no correspondence or communication. Thankfully, Princess ended up in a foster home that cared for her for an entire year before Sato Saved was able to find her and pull her into the rescue.

Princess has now been with us for roughly ỳ although her transition to a pack environment was a little rough, she has finally found her stride and is learning how to be a well-rounded dog. We are now confident that Princess is ready to find her new home!

Princess has proven that she is good with many different dogs of different personalities. However, to be safe, we think her ideal home would have a large male dog. She does well with dominant female dogs, but of course, a meet-and-greet is needed to make sure it's a good fit.

We do separate for treats / bones and feeding times. She needs a strong and confident handler, Princess is a big girl (we are working on her weight loss), and she requires some leash manners. But overall, she is a great girl deserving of a forever family.

Please welcome Princess.
Princess is yet another Misfits rescue, abandonee.

However, her story didn't start there. She was originally taken in from another rescue that has been under a ton of scrutiny - 4 Lucky Paws Animal Rescue out of Peterborough.

Her original foster (after her intake to Misfits) was only supposed to have her for a night, and that quickly turned into a year... with absolutely no support.

She was picked up in Wingham last night, and over the next couple of weeks, we will learn more about her and get her the appropriate vetting.

So far, she seems like a good dog, who needs some manners, but we were told she can be dog selective, so we will investigate that as well!

Third times, the charm pretty girl. We've got you!

Where your journey begins... Welcome to Sato Saved End of the Line Dog Rescue and Rehabilitation Skippy. This handsome little 10-week-old fluff ball came all the way from Montreal, where his 'breeder' was going to euthanize him, not seeing he had any options to deal with his very visible disability. Having worked with other disabled fosters (Clover and Dakota), we opted to foster Skippy while we figure out what's going on with him with vet appointments and therapy; only possible with the help of some amazing volunteers. Sato Saved is still accepting donations towards his care, with a goal of $5,000 where the donation will be matched. The total raised to date is $3,700. Along with this introduction post, I need to give a massive shout out to Cassia; founder and owner of Sato Saved. Every single day, she, in some way or another, touches the lives of multiple animals, and every month, the numbers are staggering at hundreds. Although she can not save / help them all, she does SO MUCH that a lot isn't public knowledge. I call her a superhero, and I stand by that statement... The question often comes up, "Why do I keep doing this to myself?" and then I joke that I am a gluten for punishment when it comes to animals... As mentioned in a previous post, we have had a lot of loss here, and I personally feel like I am drowning in sorrow. Questioning why I do what I do if I have so much self-doubt and struggle deeply with the circle of life. The weekend after Eleanor passed away, we took in another sick kid, a Pygmy x around the age of 3 weeks. There were back and forth conversations if I was ready to take this on, knowing he may not survive, but I was dedicated. Hubert (Herby) was brought here, and immediately I fell in love with him. Weak, struggling to thrive, but I had hope. There were really good days, and there were bad days. Seen by our incredible vet Miller Veterinary Service - who was gracious, understanding, and overall empathetic to his situation. Everyone rallying behind him to save his life. The vet gave him a 25% survival and told little Hubert we were going to make it... I took him everywhere with me so we could stay on top of his supplements and feedings. With the sorrow that's been surrounding us and the farm recently, there is nothing better than laughter. Eunice makes us laugh every day (me more so than my husband), but his new favourite perching spot despite me liking it is on top of our clean laundry pile for the dog stuff.
