Okie
Patient and quiet. He got the call by Aimee for a ride today and he got prettied up in purple fringe. Even when I took off with Timmy down the stretch, Okie wasn’t for none of that and walked with Aimee. He is so safe how do you not throw your kids on him 😂
New shoes
The ‘crazy’ baby stud got his first set of shoes! He was a little champ, now to try and beat all this rain and get some rides in before finals this weekend.
Melly
From that scared and timid filly, is now a pest 😅 cannot get any photos as always following and wanting loving. She’s really put human affection and feels good together and she isn’t missing any of it. Scratching her this morning she sure had a big release and stretch after scratches. She’s looking great and lost the wormy belly, putting on muscle and fat on her topline. Just a happy healthy yearling.
Breakfast
Okie has a love for food and all good, every time being fed he’s just to excited to hide it 😂 once he spots you with a bucket he just starts talking and doesn’t quit til he’s scarfing it down.
Third race
Training and seasoning a barrel horse;
The good, the bad and the ugly.
It all happens and they don’t become solid and faithful right off the start. If it does come like gas on a fire and without fail you have that firstborn child who was an angel and gave you hope in doing it again getting that second wild child 😂
Third jackpot is in the books and first time hauling ‘alone’, we hauled with a friend and her mare. But Okies first time without having his emotional support Timmy or Lincoln so he was abit nervous. He still came, we settled some from a new place, warmed up and even with a scary moment at first still went and made me happy.
Another note:
Most do exhibition and haul before entered. But we haven’t done that, I am throwing us to the wolves. We did afew exhibitions at local winter jackpot but other than that we are just officially going and entering because I believe in him. He has showed he can do it and more do it he’ll just grow confidence that much more
Jewel
This year is all runners. These poor moms will be in summer shape soon 😅
This filly is officially named on my mother’s birthday, she got the task to name the little lady. Jewel 💎 is a precious and special filly.
Gem ‘24 foal
When you’re 2 hours old but have wanted to stretch those legs for weeks 😂 she was a mover in Gems belly and hasn’t stopped since she’s been out.
Aimee hasn’t rode Okie since last year so she wanted to take him for a ride tonight. Not many 4 year old studs I’d be letting little ones ride around on.
First baby 2024
Our first baby hit the ground at 11:30pm April 17th!
A palomino colt with the cutest nose boop and 2 hind stockings and 2 front socks
Dee
Squishy hind end like jello! So maybe now she’ll think about foaling and her jumping helped her out 😅
Dee is 342 days gestation
And good ole Gem is now at 348 days gestation (her first colt was born at 346 and her last filly was 366 🙄) so any guess is a good guess of when she’ll foal.
Dee
Pretty sure Dee is taking it into her own hands to try and get this baby out. Be nice to hold it in (both mares as Gem is 2 days over) for couple more days when it’s back to warm and not windy!
This weather has everyone so crazy, I’m not sure how the mares can even get off the ground at this point.
Second run!
We had our second jackpot entry and I’m just so in love with him. Whole new arena, and he wasn’t ever once looky. He just was confused why third was so dang far and he needed some extra strides in. But so proud of him how he can handle change so great.
Okies first entry!
We made our first official paid run, and treated him as if he’s in the barrel string line up and not babying or nitpicking like a trainer. Just go and make a run. And well he showed me 😂 he came and he held ground. Fast time of the evening was a 14.1 and we got a 15.5! 🔥 His FIRST jackpot entry run. Mind blowing and I guess I need to treat him like that and haul him to season, we may have so many lows after this but enjoy the high and excitement he brought.
Easter fun
Kids had tons of candy and Okie figured they needed to share with him.
I’d love to know what goes on in his head, he’s a character and my spirit animal 😂
Aimee & Timmy
Well little miss Aimee and Timmy had their last run of the winter series. And they crushed it with another personal best in their few runs they’ve had. Doing so, they won the youth with a 15.5!
Now we have finals March 16th! So keep practicing and good luck vibes. This was her first year in youth in this jackpot series, as she is suppose to be peewee this and next but we bumped her up. Hopefully the places this little lady will go!
