I have taken a break from social media but wanted to come on here and say that our hearts go out to everyone in our home town of Abbotsford as well as all the others dealing with the mass flooding situation going on right now. Our house is literally 5 mins from this seeing the devastation from a photo compared to re life is mind blowing. Even though we are extremely close to this situation we thankfully are all safe, as well as the rest of the Playful Paws family/clients. Though we do have friends that are affected. Prayers and or good thoughts are much appreciated at this time. 🥰

We will be away from the ‘desk’ for the next two weeks. We have a couple of high needs kids and going back to school is always a rough time in our household. We need to take some time to get things ready and to mentally prepare ourselves for the battle. Thank you to our amazing clients for understanding. 🥰

I forgot to post yesterday the wonderful pupcakes Frankie’s family sent along with him. Getting a picture of them all eating was a complete disaster 🤣 and it was all over in a matter of seconds.

If smoke effects humans it effects our pets as well. Be extra cautious out there and stay inside as much as possible. Your dog will be just fine if they miss their daily walk for a couple of days.

Some may be thinking ‘why are your daycare dogs sleeping while there? Shouldn’t they be playing ?’ The answer, because they get to ‘choose’ what they want to do. They want to engage and play they can, if they want to go sniff around the yard, they can. Get a chew toy out and have some chew time, they can. Jump on the couch, go in an open crate or simple lye on the floor to close their eyes, they can. Playful Paws is not about forcing dogs to interact with each other for hours on end or with me the entire time they are here. It is about providing an enriching, safe environment where they have the freedom to do what they wish.

17yrs ago I was diagnosed with Bipolar ll and an anxiety disorder. I am very vocal in my personal life about my mental illness and ending the stigma but have been putting it off sharing it professionally. Why ? Pretty much due to the thoughts above. The drs opinion back then was that I would not be able to run my own business due to the challenges I have. Well … they should see me now. With medication and regular therapy I have been able to run a successful business doing what I am passionate about. My challenges wax and wane just like someone else who has a chronic illness and with the boundaries I set in place professionally I am able to offer my clients the best possible care. If I am not at my best I cannot give my best. This is me.. ❤️

These two missed each other after Charlie was off for a month. Best buds at it again. It just warms my heart 🥰❤️ to see these two play so well together.

I am a positive reinforcement based company, that offers 1.5-2 hr off leash dog hikes, cat sitting and in my home boarding. I am dogsafe canine first aid certified, have completed the dog*tec professional dog walkers course and am a certified veterinarian assistant ; which means I have the education and experience to deal with animals with special needs and or medical concerns. I am also a member of several organizations that have high standards of ethical and positive reinforcement practices. I do not use e- collars, shock collars, prong collars or choke collars of any kind and I take every precaution to ensure your pet is looked after in a safe and responsible way. We have a lot of fun here at Playful Paws exploring local trails and discovering new smells (for the doggies) along the way. I would love for your pet to become a part of the Playful Paws family.
