One of our plants in our Grow-out tanks is blooming and our glass frog ( Hyalinobatrachium valerioi) decided the bloom made a nice perch.

Our first shipments of the year went out this week as Temperatures warm after a cold winter. These glass frogs ( Hyalinobatrachium valerioi) went to a new home in Vancouver via Sea plane just a 30 min ride to the new keeper. We will be opening up to shipping across all of Canada soon.

Any reptile keeper or enthusiast knows about Brian Barczyk any all he has done for the hobby. He did not stay the same , he changed as the hobby changed and inspired all of us. He is why I keep the animals I do and his loss will be felt but his contributions will continue through others.

On behalf of the Barczyk family and our entire team at The Reptarium, it is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Brian Barczyk.

More than the guiding light of our organization, Brian's fervent passion for reptiles and wildlife, along with his steadfast dedication to education, has touched innumerable hearts and minds globally.

Our deepest sympathies are with Brian's family, his friends, and all those whose lives he has touched. We've lost an exceptional individual – a visionary, mentor, and friend. For those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him, Brian's absence leaves an immeasurable void.
As we navigate this difficult time, we find comfort in the memories and the lasting light of Brian's work. He will be deeply missed but indeed, never forgotten.

The Barczyk family invites you to join us for a Public Memorial Walk-through to honor Brian’s memory. The event will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Heritage Church, located at 44625 Schoenherr Rd. Sterling Heights, MI 48313 from 1-3pm.

A fresh clutch of eggs from our Ranitomeya summersi dart frogs. They were our first dart frogs ever and still produce for us today.

Clean day on this 60G Glass Frog breeder tank. This is a planted paludarium done from a Fluval tank with an under tank canister filter we did years ago. It was at one time planted with a mix of colourful water and land plants and has a large stump on land dropping into the water. Today we leave it to simpler plants that grow well and the frogs like better for breeding including pothos, bromeliads, mosses, ferns, Anubis’s, and a few micro pothos. The bottom is filled with aprox 20 g water area with galaxy rasbory and the occasional shrimp. The glass frogs can@breed without it water but we get more breeding in this tank with them perfecting to lay eggs on leaf or on glass over running water. We don’t often have to clean as the plant roots all grow into the water and keep the water clean so maybe once a month we trim and clean filter.

Today we added to our animal menagerie. This time we adopted two kittens needing a home and have yet to name them. The last cat we had for 18 years and loved him and he lived us back so why not help some@acts in need again.

Fall/ winter herping in BC and found a number of Red-back salamanders in the leaf litter along with tons of mushroom species and slime moles.

When you go to setup some new Neon Day Gecko ( PHELSUMA KLEMMERI) and they decide to go for a run on your arm. Every new baby gets some Pangea gecko food from our hand before being placed from incubator to mini growout panted tank to ensure they know this is their food and they always do well.

Another large order out today. If your thinking of ordering we recommend that you do so before end of Oct. We regularly use approved insulated boxes , or can even use double box depending on location and now use phase 22 packs along with heat packs in almost all shipments. That being said we don’t ship in Nov/Dec to most locations and will only place animals on hold so order before hand or place animals on hold if you want them for Jan/ Feb .

Some more geckos and H. valerioi glass frogs going out while temps are safe. Holds from Aug and now shipping while temps are mild but we still use approved insulated boxes , phase 22 and cold heat packs to ensure animal comfort.
