A new trick. No meaning to it lol, just having fun
Teaching place to your dog/ pup is so beneficial, no ryshing to greet visitors, staying away from the table, even just to relax, Here is an amazing pup just rocking it. Being able to stay in place while the kids are at the table eating. Never mind away from the table but out of the kitchen also. What a rock star. Way to go mom
We always talk to much to our dogs. You have to think they don't speak our language but are excellent at reading body language. Watch Jazmyne respond to cue cards and i don't have to say a word.
I haven't been posting much, but that doesn't mean I'm not training..
Training is on going, so why not add it into play time. I'm always working on yard boundries with my guys. Rose is doing great, she earned the privilege of being of leash in the yard, supervised only of course.
I can't train, I just had major surgery. I'm only 8 days post op. Remember a dog is a commitment that you accepted and to give them what they need. If you have to make excuses for not training maybe rethink your decision. It's ok to not be 100% all the time, but you got to be there.
OH WOW.. another update.. now again i don't know if you all were following Bear"s story. He WAS a very reactive shepherd who couldn't lol at another dog.. with alot of positive reinforcement and lots of hard work he not only over came his reactivity but is now a big brother to the newest member of the family. Check out this amazing team.. YOU GUYS ROCK
Here is another update on Bodie. For those who didn't follow his journey till now, here's a quick review. He is a rescue that has many issues and the owner was told he was untrainable and should be put down. He was lucky enough to fall into the right hands, because he is turning out to be such an amazing dog. He is rocking the art of doing nothing and learning to be calm.. way to go guys
When I hear people say that their dog can't be trained, well here is proof lol. With patience and positive reinforcement, this dog went from being condemned to not being trainable and the owner being told he should be put down, to a well behaved boy. Check out this guys door manners, and how he turns and checks back in with his owner.. with lots of work she proved them wrong and saved this boys life..I am so proud to be working with this team.. WAY TO GO TEAM BROOKE AND BODIE
Teaching your dog to relax can help accomplish so much, like anxiety or separation anxiety, it helps to calm an over excited dog, that's just too name a few. This fella had all of that, not being able to Settle, constantly pacing, separation anxiety, over excitement. Being a rescue he had a lot of issues but, With lots of patients and positive reinforcement he is able to learn to relax. And this guy is just rocking the place cue, relaxing in his place while mom is cooking supper. This is such a big accomplishment for these guys. Be proud of the hard work you're putting in.
Does your dog race you too the door when there is a knock. Not Callie, they have been working hard on her going to place when she hears a knock. Be proud of your hard work. If you would like to learn more on how to accomplish this just reach out.
What simple games do you play with your dog to keep them busy? I get Jazmyne to pick up her toys lol
Take every opportunity as a training session.
The more you practice cutting nails the easier it gets, just randomly sit with your dog and go through the motions. Lots of treats. If they pull away, leave them decide if they want to come back and finish the game. The more you practice when you don't need it the easier it will be when you do
Training is about having fun, your dog doesn't care what you look like or how you are dressed as long you are spending time with them they are happy.. here is a new trick me and Jazmyne are working on. She's learning to give me CPR lol..
Remember to take every opportunity for a training session, so all the practice is there when you need it. It could be as simple as sitting in your car waiting for them to settle, also door manners which can save your dogs life.
For those of you who remember Bear, the reactive German shepherd, well check this out. They were invited to one of our Puppy Knows class and this is the outcome. To think this dog couldn't be around any other dogs then to see him participate in a group and not react, just WOW...Good job be proud, you worked hard to get there
Getting ready for the weekend.. it's 5 o'clock somewhere
