✅ Everyone in your home agrees to get a dog
✅ The primary caregiver is an adult
✅ The dog will be provided with everything it needs to have a happy, healthy, and safe life

Speaking for all Animal Care and Control workers in the Eeyou Istchee, we are trying our best.

It’s not only about catching dogs, but responding to calls about a neighbour’s starving dog, or a dog with no shelter and forced to sleep in the rain/snow, or someone’s dog had too many puppies, or someone’s dog got hit by a vehicle, or a dog’s chain is too short and is being neglected.

It’s not easy having to confront dog owners about these issues. Most are sensitive topics to bring up. We apologize if a dog is not captured right away, we are most likely dealing with something else.

Complaining or bullying on social media is not helping and can be very degrading. If you have issues, please call or go directly to the Public Safety office.

On Remembrance Day, we take a moment to honour and pay tribute to those who served, including the animals who stood alongside them.

Throughout WW1 and WW2, and even today, animals had an important part of each war. Dogs, horses, birds and other animals acted as warning systems, search and rescue, messengers, carriers, and companions.

Today we remember them for their service and sacrifice ❤️

“Can you tie up your dog?”
A simple question we ask the owners of the dogs that are off-leash.

These are the responses we get from different people. They all generally say the same thing “what about the other dogs loose”

It’s difficult to make sure dogs are safe and secure at home while owners are worried about dogs other than their own.

❗️ALL dog owners need take responsibility for their own dog. Even if your dog is friendly, it needs to stay home❗️

If we have enough dogs on the list, we can have another clinic

Contact or comment if you would like your dog to be sterilized (not able to have puppies)

Puppies must be at least 6 weeks old to get the surgery
