Karma, a therapy and child certified member of the Georgetown Team is retiring after almost 10 years of bringing smiles to people’s faces.

Karma has been an integral part of the Georgetown Team. Our team, along with all the children, adults and seniors whom she visited, will truly miss Karma. We are grateful for all of the help and comfort she has offered others through her visits.

“As her owner, I am so proud of the difference she has made in people's lives plus my own. Karma has decided she would like to spend more time on the couch and enjoy her golden years.” -Brenda

Karma has been a wonderful representation of TPOC in Georgetown. We wish her all the best as she enjoys her well deserved time relaxing on the couch.

The Georgetown Team was very saddened to hear that Dallas had passed. He was a very special boy, he started his career as a racing greyhound. When he retired from racing he was adopted by Michelle. Michelle and Dallas as a team became therapy dog and child certified.

Dallas could always bring a smile to the elderly, he was just the right height for wheelchairs and he enjoyed the gentle strokes on his head. As a child certified therapy dog one of his favorite activities was just laying down and having a young child read to him. When Dallas was not out in the community as a therapy dog his most favorite time was being at home with Michelle and family.

Speaking on behalf of not only TPOC but the wider community, Dallas's loving personality will be sorely missed. ❤️

It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the sudden and unexpected death of Kim Hunter, our Director of Marketing. Kim was the Team Leader for the Toronto Downtown core and a valued member of the TPOC Board of Directors. Kim and McKenzie were TPOC's ambassadors at many partnered charitable public events with the Blue Jays Foundation, Starlight Foundation and Rope for Hope. Her presence will be missed greatly. We are shocked and saddened by the loss of one of our own. More details will be following shortly as we receive them.

Therapeutic Paws of Canada

We at Therapeutic Paws of Canada (TPOC) have had to make the difficult decision to immediately suspend and cancel all pet therapy visits across Canada due to the potential threat of the COVID-19 virus. Because we work with and visit some of the most vulnerable population we have made the difficult decision to take a proactive stance to ensure that we do not play a part in the spread of this virus. The health and safety of our volunteers and our clients is at the forefront of this decision. All visits are cancelled until further notice. This decision will be revisited and updated on April 1, 2020.

Therapeutic Paws of Canada Brampton

Brenda with Karma, and Brenda with Otto from the Georgetown Team, both recently visited the Respite Centre at ErinoakKids in Brampton to spend some time with the young adults. These two young ladies were thrilled to have the attention of the dogs, Karma in the first picture and Otto, while somewhat hidden, in the second picture. Karma and Otto bring smiles and happiness wherever they go, as do Brenda Goodlet and Brenda Lee. In the third picture, Brenda and Brenda were learning how the second young person is able to take selfies and if you look carefully, you will see Brenda Lee and Otto in the pictures. Our thanks to you both for your dedication to these visits. 🐾🐾❤️ , ,

Therapeutic Paws of Canada - Giving Tuesday

It’s Giving Tuesday! 🐾

What is Giving Tuesday all about?? Glad you asked!

The first Tuesday in December has been declared Giving Tuesday. For the past seven years, this awareness-building day has fallen on the Tuesday after the US Thanksgiving. It highlights and celebrates the joy of giving to others and being charitable, coming on the heels of the more consumer oriented Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
