Hello everyone,
We hope this post finds you and your furry friends well! We wanted to reach out to let you know that after much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to raise the rate for our future group dog training classes from $150 to $180 + HST.
This is the very first increase we have done since we opened in January 2017 so it most definitely is not a decision that was made lightly. We are committed to providing the best possible service for you and your dogs, and that includes making sure that we have the resources to continue offering high-quality training.
We want to thank you for your continued support and loyalty. We know that this change may not be easy, but we hope that you will continue to trust us to provide the best possible service for you and your furry friends.

I’ve loved every second of the last (nearly) 6 years helping you shape your pups into the best pets they can be. In particular, the last 2 years were so rewarding as I was able to focus exclusively on this business because of all of you.
Recently, I was approached by a company in the industry I used to work in and they’ve convinced me to jump back into the 9-5 lifestyle starting this coming Monday. This is very bittersweet for me as those who know me, know that I spend a few days in the week taking care of my son as well.
Because of this new full time commitment, private lessons of any kind will have to cease. Sunday group classes will continue, but in a very limited capacity (fewer classes, less frequent). The online classes will still be available as always.
This change does not impact the current class or the one scheduled to start January 8.
Thanks again to you all! I’m not closing up, just changing things up for now :)

Thanks for your support everyone. Together, we were able to raise $370 for Pat Stay’s family. That money has been sent straight to his partner.
I appreciate all the shares and consideration as much as the donations themselves.
Great job all!

Teach Stay! for Pat Stay

I’ve never really been bothered by a celebrity death and I didn’t know Pat personally. This one hit different though. Our paths crossed a few times over the years… he was looking for dog training advice a while back and more recently, but still a while ago, ran into him at Legends barbershop and just talked about our boys.
Pat didn’t know me but would talk and give the time of day.
I learned about Pat from watching his battles as he got bigger in that scene. The first Pat battle for me was against Hollohan in 2010. I was hooked. Any time a new battle, song, satirical car financing commercial, unreasonable rob or just his daily Insta content was released, I had to watch. Pat had a way of making sure you knew him even if you never met him.
In his battles, he could have the room gasping for air laughing and then immediately have them gasping in shock at how visceral the next bar would be and back to laughter again in the same breath before his patented tri-syllabic rhyme was complete and completely popped the crowd. Pat oozed charisma and could control any crowd, anywhere; the battle in Germany proved that. The man had the de facto ‘it’ factor that you cannot teach.
I have a ton of respect for Pat’s desire not to be just a Canadian rapper, but specifically one from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He stayed humble and always knew how to represent his home city and province with unwavering faith and admiration. His commitment to this city makes this loss more than just one in the rap/battle scene. He helped put our town on the map.
My heart absolutely breaks for his partner and kids. Pat was one of the few people to have a large following but still openly post about his love for his family in the mix of battle content/whatever he was up to at the time. Just a few days ago he pushed people to treat friends and loved ones as if their days were numbered. Prophetic in a way.
Pat will live on forever as a local hero and in the hip hop community on battle rap’s Mt. Rushmore. He will be dearly missed.
I know he’s up there laughing at us all upset saying “look look look look…. they sad right now, those lil babies want Pat Stay back SO BAD right now”.

MAX Potential Dog Training
Hi! I’m Ryan!
I’ve had a love for dogs as pets and in some form of training/behaviour modification as long as I can remember. Dogs have always played a major role in my life. As a child, my family had a wonderful chocolate lab named Max and I can remember having no idea what to do regarding training him, but will always remember how rewarding it was to encourage an animal to work with me and for me in a task driven, or obedience sense. When I decided to start this business, I decided to name the business after Max.
Fast forwarding a number of years, I found myself in a position to learn the basics in the dog training world from one of the best in a shadowing capacity in Dartmouth, NS. It was around this time that I became more involved in dog rescue and fostering as well and really needed to hone my skills with behaviour modification. I had recently adopted one of my fosters, Zeus.
Zeus was an 8 month old pit bull(American Staffordshire Terrier)/mastiff mix pup that was born in a high kill shelter and had zero direction, obedience, socialization or sense in how to manage himself around new people without trying to ‘dominate’ or claim them. He especially despised new dogs, treating them as threats. Within one year, Zeus became certified as a therapy dog through St. John Ambulance and another year after that he was given the designation ‘Specific Needs’ therapy dog and works with children, vulnerable adults or just anyone that wants some good old puppy love. Zeus does his therapy at the Halifax Airport every Friday. He also has many dog friends these days and will get along with any dog after a proper, controlled introduction.
Today, I have three dogs... Zeus (January 2014), Nova (American Staffordshire Terrier, July 2015) and Crash (Chihuahua mix, December 2014). All are rescues and all have come with their own challenges that I have been able to work around. Nova is also a therapy dog with St. John Ambulance and makes her rounds at long term care facilities. I also have a cat named Bruce! He was the first pet I had as an adult. He will sit and shake paw for anyone :)
I do have a ‘normal’ 9-5 job but dog training is where my heart lies and is truly what I love doing most. I am still involved in dog rescue, fostering, working with rescue groups to provide training at no cost when necessary and am an approved trainer with the SPCA Provincial Animal Shelter in Dartmouth, NS.
Many of my clients will tell you that I can speak dog. Unfortunately, as awesome as this would be, I am not able to communicate with these wonderful animals in a verbal capacity. What I am able to do is read body language, energy and intent to communicate to you why your dog is doing/not doing something so that you can understand a little bit of dog psychology and use this to your advantage to shape the behaviours you want, and to reduce/remove the ones you do not want. I am a big believer that practice makes progress and with dogs, everything you do creates progress; nothing is ever perfect in the dog training world, there is always room for learning, growth, development and education.
My specialties lie with reactive dogs. Many will coin the term aggressive when describing a reactive dog’s behaviours. I enjoy working with high-energy, stubborn dogs that pose a significant challenge. These are my favourite success stories!
All my of my training techniques take advantage of varying levels of positive reinforcement in order to shape and correct what you are looking for from your pup. There is nothing more satisfying than teaching and training a dog to WANT to work for us based on a relationship built from a foundation of care, love and mutual respect.
If I have a mission, it is to educate more pet owners before they give up on their dogs and give them up to shelters/local rescues. Unfortunately, many of these facilities euthanize animals once they reach capacity and new animals arrive. If more dogs have homes and live long, happy lives, I will consider the mission a success!
If you have a new puppy, or a new to you rescue, please reach out to me regarding group classes! Group classes are fun, encourage socialization with new people and animals and your new best friend will learn all of the essential elements that create a happy, obedient companion in a distraction filled environment.
If you have a specific area of need, please reach out regarding private lessons. I would be delighted to work with you to help your pup reach your goals and their MAX Potential!
