We provide sanctuary to those rabbits that cannot be adopted for whatever reason. Running Rabbit Farm began with one mission: to rescue, rehabilitate and provide new loving forever homes for abused, abandoned and neglected house rabbits. We are a no-kill non-profit organization that provides care and medical attention at our facilities or in carefully screened foster homes until permanent loving
homes are found. Rabbits that cannot be placed for whatever reason will be given sanctuary for the remainder of their lives. They will be pampered and loved as they should be. We accept rabbits that are surrendered by their previous owners, shelters, humane societies and strays that find their way to us. If not for Running Rabbit Farm, many of these animals would be destroyed in shelters or die when released in the wild.
This weekend, MyGivingCircle is giving away $5,000 for the first 5,000 new people that vote on GiveBack Weekend. It's our way of giving back to all the amazing charities that use our platform.

The rescue has need of funds for vet bills and supplies. We are running a Bottles For Bunnies Campaign for the next little bit to help. We unfortunately do not have a drop off location and we have 1 person who will be picking up the cans and bottles so please be patient while we get to you. Today is Giving Tuesday, the largest global generosity movement where every act of generosity counts.
We have seen an almost astronomical increase in the number of requests to surrender rabbits, even though we have been closed to intake for a year. The requests keep coming in. Sadly, without qualified foster homes or donations to help with their care, we are unable to help more. All rescues, whether it be rabbits, cats, dogs, lizards, etc. have been pushed to their limits. Without funding all of us have difficulty in tending to the needs of the animals. Our founder has been taking care of the majority of invoices and since she has retired without a company pension, it is getting more difficult, but she continues as the rabbits come first in her life and it is truly a labour of love.
We understand that times have been tough and now we are entering the holiday season. We ask that you take a moment and give a gift that go 100% to the care of the rabbits currently in our care. Rabbits like Dover, who has since gone to The Rainbow Bridge after a long life - who was found chained in a front yard, covered in fleas and severely malnourished. We've been so busy but didn't want to miss thanking Global Pet Foods on Victoria Road in Guelph for their most generous donation! We were gifted a large amount of bedding, large bags of hay, bags of alfalfa even some treats for the rabbits! We can't thank you enough for helping us help the rabbits!
A PSA about rescuing:
People may wonder why rescues are always asking for donations. It takes money to help all the animals that are in their care. and due to lack of funds and space/foster homes, that is why many have closed to intake of any new animals, us included. (One space is always reserved for a special needs animal that has no other options left)
We are currently preparing our year end and after compiling the information for our first quarter, it shows that our founder paid for 99% of all the rabbit's needs out of her own pocket. 99%.
It was done out of necessity and because of her big heart. Many rescues have shut down due to lack of funds, leaving these pets with no where to go. We will continue to the best care possible, but without support, it is becoming increasingly difficult. Everyone affiliated with the rescue is a volunteer - no one gets paid.
So when a rescue asks for your help, please donate what you can. No amount is too small.
We thank those that have helped us during the year - we can't thank you enough. And thank you to all the rescuers out there.

Once again, we are asking for your help. One of the rabbits in our care is due for a vet visit and the bank account is almost empty. We are still closed to intake, but the requests from people to surrender their rabbit(s) still come in. Donations are needed for our medical bills as well as our day to day care of the rabbits. Basil is a sweet little girl that came into the rescue severely head tilted. Treatment didn't clear it up so we prepared to give her all the love we could in the remaining few months she had. Her father passed with the same symptoms when he was only 8 months old (most probably EC) - Basil was between 8 - 10 months old so we gave her a birthdate of May 24, 2018.
Basil endeared everybody with her love of treats and would only eat only one type of pellets that necessitated a 20 minute drive to the only store that carried it. She was perfect with her litter box habits and was such a happy girl.
She definitely surprised us when she celebrated her 5th birthday this year, and her 5th gotcha day would have been on October 25. Sadly, her body could no longer fight off the disease and she quietly and peacefully left us for new adventures at the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon.. On this Thanksgiving Day, I am thankful that she had many more years than we thought and that they were happy and full of love. She no longer will have a head tilt and will have all the love and treats she wants. Thank you Basil for your spirit and determination and your will to live. We love you and will miss you and will see you at The Bridge one day.
We are always in need need of good foster homes! If you are able to provide a home for one of our rabbits (or 2!), please contact us as soon as possible. Everything will be provided if we have it - food, hay, cage - you need to provide fresh vegetables and lots of love! Please help us help the rabbits!
