These tricolored tiny isopods are robust and relatively easy to breed. The origin of their name remains a mystery, considering they exhibit three color patterns rather than resembling a White Shark.

These diminutive isopods thrive in a moist enclosure with ample lime. Cubaris sp. 'White Shark' boasts the same endearing appearance as other Cubaris isopods, with an active nature and a strong inclination for reproduction under favorable conditions.

While they may be smaller compared to other isopod species, their beauty is undeniable. Thriving in humid tropical environments, they are known for their shy and reclusive behavior. Once established in an enclosure, they become remarkably prolific.

Hailing from Thailand, the White Shark Isopod species not only breeds well but also tolerates lower temperatures. Their diet consists of decaying organic materials, tree bark, and a calcium-rich diet reminiscent of their natural habitat.

Explore the captivating world of Cubaris sp. 'White Shark,' a unique and beautiful addition to your isopod collection.

The "Ukraine Pied" morph is a captivating discovery within the world of isopods. Originating from a group of C. convexus collected in Ukraine, these isopods exhibit a remarkable and unique appearance. At times, they almost resemble Dalmatians, while others display a distinct lack of coloring alongside normal pattern breaks.

C. convexus, in general, are known for their prolific and docile nature, thriving in a wide range of environments. They bring an intriguing blend of characteristics to your bioactive setups. These isopods have a curious habit of curling into a ball, reminiscent of Armadillidium species, but with their antennae extended. They are fearless and extraordinarily active, combining the best of both Armadillidium and pruinosus worlds.

While Cylisticus convexus is a cosmopolitan species of isopod, the "Ukraine Pied" morph stands out with its distinct and intricate blotching, offering a higher level of contrast compared to Dairy Cow or Shiro Utsuri isopods.

These isopods are relatively easy to care for and are suitable for both cleanup crews and pet isopod colonies. Their adaptability to both arid and tropical environments makes them an excellent choice, especially for beginners. However, their hard exterior makes them less ideal as feeder isopods.

Uncover the allure of "Ukraine Pied" isopods, a captivating and unique addition to your isopod collection.

'Armadillidium depressum "Magic Potion". Armadillidium depressum "Magic Potion" is a rare color morph that infrequently occurs in nature. This unique pattern gives these Armadillidium isopods a striking appearance, featuring beautiful yellow markings on a semi-transparent base. Compared to a similar isopod species, Armadillidium vulgare 'Magic Potion,' Armadillidium depressum is slightly larger, with adults reaching a length of approximately 20 mm.

These isopods are most active during the early morning and nighttime hours. To create an ideal terrarium habitat for them, maintain about one-third of the enclosure's substrate as moist, which can be achieved with moss and decaying white wood pieces beneath a layer of decaying leaves.

Temperature-wise, keep the habitat within the range of 15 to 26°C (59 to 78.8°F), and maintain humidity levels between 55% and 75%. Their diet should include a variety of foods such as fruits, vegetables, greens, fish food, decaying leaves, rotting white wood, and the molting of invertebrates and reptiles. Additionally, provide a protein source twice a week, and consider using specialized protein mix foods. Don't forget to offer a calcium source like cuttlefish bone, limestone, or oyster seashell to ensure their health.

Armadillidium depressum "Magic Potion" is considered an easy species to care for. While their reproduction rate may start slow, an established colony tends to have a stable population. Their lifespan is approximately 3 years, and they have a relatively slow growth rate.

Helleria brevicornis is a very unique isopod: they are the only member of their genus, the largest terrestrial rolling isopod, and the closest terrestrial relative of the giant marine isopods. At Isopod Canada, we are proud to present Helleria brevicornis, a remarkably unique isopod species. As the sole member of its genus, it holds the distinction of being the largest terrestrial rolling isopod and bears a close kinship to giant marine isopods in the marine realm.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Helleria brevicornis is its reproductive behavior, as females produce only a single litter in their entire lifetime. As the largest conglubulating isopod species, Helleria brevicornis stands as a testament to the wonders of nature and is a captivating addition to any bioactive terrarium.
