Hi everyone,

ADAV Society/STOP UBC Animal Research, Toronto Anti-Vivisection Alliance - TAVA, and animals in laboratories across Canada need your help.

We need 500 signatures to get the following petition to be tabled in parliament to end the entrenched requirement for the testing of new drugs on animals in favour of sophisticated, human-relevant, and reliable evidence methods.

Thank you in advance for your support! 🙏

There is no obligation on the part of the House of Commons or any Member of Parliament to authorize the publication of an e-petition or to present an e-petition or a paper petition to the House of Commons. But more importantly, as its website states, "Fauna Foundation is a chimpanzee sanctuary and place of refuge for animals who have come to us from the wild, from private homes, and from the medical research, agriculture and entertainment industries. We are currently home to chimpanzees, a monkey and a flock of domestic geese. Fauna provides permanent, lifetime protection for these incredible individuals."

This poor woman had her little Yorkshire terrier for 8 years and the BC SPCA misread the dog's ID and sold the beloved pet to someone else. The woman lost her attempt to get her little one back at the BC FIRB tribunal appeal.

A farmer in northern B.C. says she's devastated after losing her legal battle to get her dog back, nearly two years after it was adopted into a new home 800 kilometres away.

The BC SPCA is facing a big lawsuit in the BC Supreme court alleging ongoing misapplication of the Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals Act and corruption.
Stay tuned.

The BC NDP is pushing for legislative changes without being transparent about how the changes will affect BC Animal Breeders and who will regulate their industries. We suspect that Agricultural Minister Pam Alexis is working behind the scenes with the BC SPCA to make it harder for the breeders in BC.

The problem arises that only selective breeding of animals will occur and those who are not in that elite category will face continual harassment, fines and animal seizures.

The BC SPGA do not support animal breeding mills. We believe that animals have the right to reproduce in loving, caring environments where they can nourish and care for their offspring naturally.

Stay tuned.

The BC NDP government doesn't help BC animal guardians and instead put the struggling BC public's money into rich animal charities like the BC SPCA who have a surplus of over $86 million according to Charity Intelligence Canada and seize innocent animals that are wanted by their loved ones and either kill them or resell them for profit (or make them pay hundreds to thousands of dollars to get the animals back with Care Agreements that have provisions that the animal guardians are prohibited from talking about). What has the BC NDP done for pet friendly tenancies legislation like in ON? The BC NDP are only supportive of the rich animal charities who dump their seized animals in the rescues so they don't have to care for them and use their own financial resources. Agricultural Minister Pam Alexis ignores BC animal guardian correspondence to her Ministry only helping rich animal charities like the BC SPCA by giving them another $12 million this year from the public purse while BCers can't even find pet friendly accommodation, pay exorbitant food prices and are drowning in debt.

There are so many wanted animals seized by the BC SPCA and now they have a two week sale for the public to buy someone's furry family member.
What about the grieving animals, their families and loved ones?

Anti-Vivisection Alliance - TAVA, whose mission is to urge University of Toronto to stop using animals for testing, research, and educational purposes, is organizing its second annual Anti-Vivisection World Protest for April 27, 2024.

Earlier this year, 27 cities participated in the first event and so far, 39 cities from around the world are confirmed for next year’s event including St. Catherines, Saskatoon, Ottawa, Vancouver, Edmonton, Victoria, Nanaimo, Charlottetown, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Norman Wells.

Let’s show the world that animals are not ours to use for any reason. We are stronger together! ✊

- BC Guardian And Pets In Hardship Program -

British Columbians with pets are struggling in these unprecedented times to make ends meet. The challenges of keeping a pet or animal are resulting in many being placed in rescues and shelters. Animals loosing their loved ones is very frightening and traumatic. Places like the BC SPCA euthanize unwanted pets and sell those that meet their criteria. Other rescues are unable to accept more pets due to over-crowding. The BC government has not assisted BC Animal Guardians because pet owners are not seen as a priority and neither are their pets.

The BC SPGA have taken the initiative to develop a program that assists families and individuals to keep their pets. We assist financially, work with local veterinarians, help to seek accommodation and advocate for no-kill rescues and shelters if rehoming cannot be avoided.

Animals have feelings, thoughts, intelligence and long to be with their loved ones and their families. They have no voice when cruelly removed from loved ones and famillies who are struggling. It is a fate that leaves scars for life.

We at the BC SPGA believes that animals belong with their loved ones. We advocate for policing reforms at the BC SPCA including that the organization use their $80+ million surplus to HELP ANIMALS and their families in need.

The need is great, the animals should not suffer. Please help with a donation to The BC Guardian And Pets In Hardship Program. Follow the link below to donate.

Over 2.5 million British Columbians (that's over half of the BC population) are animal and pet guardians.

As the Voice for guardians with animals and pets in British Columbia, we inform our elected officials and those running for office of the importance to improve the rights of our guardians and their animals and pets.

We advocate for animal and guardian rights legislatively to members of the House Of Commons and Parliament.

We advocate that animals who are legally considered "property" be recognized as sentient beings and beloved family members. In this way, guardian and animal rights have a stronger presence in society.

Likewise, guardians participate in email campaigns, surveys, online petitions and demonstrations to make our Voice heard.

Canadian law does not presently recognize the right to have a pet as a human right. While no-pet clauses are specifically banned in Ontario, landlords in BC are within their rights under the Residential Tenancy Act to prohibit pets in their rental units.

We aim to make accessibility for guardians with pets available in BC residential tenancies. To this extent, we communicate with the provincial government, the BC Human Rights Clinic, the Canada Landlords Association (BC chapter) and other stakeholders.

British Columbia has one of the highest pet and animal populations in Canada and no one to speak for their guardians.

The BC SPGA was recently formed to represent BC's animal and pet guardians and bring together our community as one Voice.

Our aim is to support and advocate for animal guardians and welcome new ideas, suggestions and initiatives.

95% of animal guardians in Canada think of their pets as family. Pets contribute so much to our lives and those of our children. With higher costs of living and low pet vacancies in BC it's increasingly more difficult to keep a pet.

British Columbians with pets and animals deserve a Voice so we can make our animals lives the best that they can be.
