Nov 3 - 9 is National Animal Shelter & Rescue Appreciation Week.

One week doesn't seem like hardly like enough to thank to those who tirelessly give of their of time, energy, money and love to care for animals in need. Often, we just think of family pet shelters in this context, but let's not forget the wildlife sanctuaries and rehabbers who are also extremely committed to animal welfare.

To celebrate, we challenge each of you to do at least one thing for an animal organization this week to help show them their efforts are appreciated and do not go unnoticed. Once you've completed this mission, please COMMENT BELOW and share with us your deed - no matter how big or small! All those who participate will be entered to WIN a $25 gift card chose by random draw on Nov 10 @ 5pm. 👀

How can you help?

- VOLUNTEER your time and expertise to help plan an event, organize some paper work, clean up kennels, socialize the animals, or get others involved.

- DONATE supplies or money to help the organization continue operating and providing services to those in need.

- FOSTER an animal to provide love, warmth and safety until it can find family of its own.

- ADOPT whether in real life or virtually. Honey, for instance, will be virtually adopting a bee from WWF to try and make up for the 2 she offed this summer trying to "play" with them. 🤦‍♀️

No matter what you choose, there are so many shelters and rescues that would love to have your assistance in any form you can provide. So please, do one thing this week to help make the world a tiny bit better for an animal in need. And hopefully you enjoy it so much, you'll continue to make it a regular habit. ❤

"National Fire Pup Day celebrates the important role that dogs, especially Dalmatians, have played in firefighting. Initially, these dogs helped calm horses that pulled fire wagons, making it easier for firefighters to reach burning buildings.

Over time, Dalmatians became a symbol of fire departments, known for their loyalty and bravery.

With the advent of motorized fire engines, the role of fire pups evolved. These dogs remained important in firehouses, serving as mascots and companions to firefighters.

They also took on new responsibilities, such as helping with fire prevention education and assisting in search and rescue operations. Today, many different breeds, not just Dalmatians, serve alongside firefighters, detecting hazards and providing emotional support.

National Fire Pup Day highlights the historical and ongoing contributions of these courageous canines. It’s a day to honor their dedication to keeping communities safe and supporting firefighters."*
