Our small wobbly girl has a name! Suggested by one of our geneour donors: Diamond - after the first woman neurologist that published that the brain can change and improve with enrichment what is now called neuroplasticity
Diamond was just at the vet, and while there she was giving the vet kisses!! This is a very sweet litlte bunny!
Seems unlikely to be inner or middle ear infection and the vet has taken her off antibioicis.
She is continuing with Panacur in case it is EC, although its unlikely to be the cause.
Saying on pain medication for another week, but does not seem painful!
She estimates she is about 8-12 months, and while she is on the thin side, she is not likely to get much bigger, other than gaining a bit of weight.
She is in great shape, clearly can groom herself, and keep herself clean! Has good teeth. On her neuro exam, she can feel everything, can right her toes, seems to know when they are folding over etc. All great news!
We are doing full blood work to ensure this is not an issue caused by liver, kidney or electrolite issues.
So what has caused these issues? We do not know. We cant rule out some sort of head truama, or perhaps she was every born this way. The important thing is that her quality of life is good right now and she is not suffering. She would need a home who can offer lots of love and care and support where and when she needs it. Her temp foster says she loves to be held. .. perhaps it makes her feel more secure.
She will have a r/c in a few weeks, and if still stable, we can vaccinate her for RHDV, and discuss her getting spayed.
Doing a CT would only be for “knoweldge” sakes and nothing would change in treatment, and it there is a very high probablity that the CT would not show us antyhing. MRI would be prefered, but not aware of any clinic here that does that, and since she is so small we may not get answers even with that.
So this is probably the best news we could have gotten. While its frustating we don’t know a way to fix her, she is stable and happy.
