Let's talk halloween πŸŽƒ

Although It may seem fun to have your dog dress up and join you at the door or out on the street trick or treating. It's not the best idea for them!

It can actually be a very stressful time for pets. Loud noises, people dressed in scary costumes, crowds, and so much more.

Instead, what you can do to help your dog celebrate halloween safely and with a smile.

Before you go out for the night or the kids start coming to the door. Set your dog up in its own space. Get them a special treat or enrichment toy from your local pet store . Fill a kong with their favorite goodies and set them up in a safe space that works for them . Somewhere, they can be away from all the chaos and have a happy night.

If you are staying in for the night handing out candy and you have multiple people at home where one can work with the dog , you may consider this a training opportunity. Have your dog on leash with one person providing your dog Treats away from the door. If your dog is reacting, you may need to start in another room. Only do this if you can do so safely without overstimulating your dog.

Either way, it's important that you provide your dogs tools for success on nights like halloween. Keep them indoors and away from the little monsters walking around. Space, security, and distraction can go a long way!

The treadmill can be a great tool for dogs for many reasons. Although it shouldn't replace walks outdoors. It can help on those cold cold days, as well as provide mental and physical stimulation for your dogs. Scout has been a pro at treadmill since a young age, and now it's a huge benefit as he ages we can use it to provide short walks to keep him mobile longer.
