Jess & Adam adopted Sophie!! She's been with them for almost a year ... so timid here at the time we intake'd her, that when Adam and Jess asked about fostering, I was really pleased they'd be willing to give her a calmer environment and help build her confidence. We had adoption interest for her that fell through last minute, and maybe that was meant to be ... turns out she is home afterall

No one came for the big guy we've named Brant Hay Shed! And he's such a cool fellow, as my friend Trish would say a "dude"! He's huge, he's super affectionate with people, not a lover of dogs, and now that he's neutered, will probably be okay with other cats. We're thinking he may be the new guest at Pet Valu Southbank into the early new year.

Crystal & Shauna recently adopted Susan 434 Ave (now Franklin), and as they promised, they came back for wee Rhonda 72 Street yesterday and brought her home. They were both moved by her story, and felt empathy for her poor condition on intake ... and were happy to see her looking so much better! Amazing what dewormer, good food, meds and a bit of time can do to turn these sorry souls into healthy animals with a good chance at a long, cared-for life! Thank you both, again!!

When Natalie and her family lost one of their cats to an unexpected medical crisis, his partner was left noticeably lonely without his companion. After talking, we set up a visit with the Celaine's, a well-socialized group of 12 week olds ... one of the little females hit it off with the kids right away, and just as importantly with Chester who immediately started grooming his new baby! Thank you all for welcoming this little one into your world

Kiernan went to see Dr. Krista yesterday at Highview Animal Clinic Ltd. for bandage removal after his broken tibia surgery. He's healing up well, but we still need to help him take it easy (which is easier said than done with a 5 mos old, feeling-better pup who just wants to run!). Passive range of movement exercises are underway, updated rads in 3 weeks and then we'll start seriously talking him up for adoption. He is super-clever, is learning a few tricks along with basic commands, has a big voice and loves his humans (and toys!). (Marcia made him wear Christmas stuff, haha!)

Gifts have been distributed :) . Photos have been taken (and hopefully we haven't missed anybody!). Operation Santa Paws (OSP) has wrapped up after another amazing season. Huge thanks to Joyce, Jimmy, all their people & clients at Sleep Rover Doggie Hotel & Daycare for this annual initiative that brings so much to the animals, and caring to all of us, too. Big love until next year

Another family who waited, and then waited some more, have been interested in the Hwy 552 Orphans since the day we first posted them as found. Courtney, her husband and children waited while we worked thru malnutrition issues, poor stool, terrible body condition, hit and miss appetites, vet visits and then more vet visits, until finally between the vet and ourselves, we felt they were as ready as they were ever going to be! These scruffy siblings have found a home full of commitment, patience and especially love. They're doing great

Xavier also started his adoption trial this week! Early check-ins from Karen & Peter are encouraging! This couple knows huskies and how stubborn they can be .. they also know how fun, affectionate and clever they are, too! We're all hoping this will be the home for Zay to see him through the last half of his life!

Carol & Rick waited a long time for SAVE Tossed to be ready! Between the prolapse and the complication to spay, her adoption was delayed and then delayed again. Finally, though, she was ready to go ... it took all of 24 hours for her to feel at home with them, and she's doing so well. Our thanks to you to both for falling hard for this quirky, affectionate girl
