Hi everyone, my name is Lilly.

I am a 2 year old black lab who is looking for a new family to take me home.

I'm trying my best to understand why I'm here but the kind ladies at the shelter tell me it's just temporary. All the strange smells and sounds are new to me but I'm trying my best to adapt. I am housetrained and will be spayed upon adoption.

Although I love people and crave human attention, I'm not the best with other animals. I would do best with an active family who will give me time to learn the house rules. I am super intelligent, so I think I'll catch on to a new schedule fairly quickly.

Please Note:

Dogs who spend time at an animal shelter will usually need a housetraining refresher course once they are introduced to a new home. Please give your new pet time to settle and allow them to gradually learn your schedule. A consistent routine is key to a successful adoption😊🐕

Visitation will be arranged once an adoption application is submitted and approved.

🐾Frequently asked questions??🐾

1. Do you spay/neuter the animals in your care?

Yes. We have a veterinarian on staff who spays or neuters all adopted animals before they leave the shelter. Some animals may require a return visit at a later date for their surgery, depending on their age or health status.👩‍⚕️💉🩺

2. Do you rescue animals other than cats and dogs?

Yes. We have cared for rabbits, snakes, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, chinchillas and more. Depending on the situation, we have successfully found homes or reunited the animals with their owners.

3. Does Humane Services deal with injured wildlife?

No. Although there may be some exceptions, most wildlife rescues are forwarded to the appropriate government agencies or animal rescue organization. 🦅🐦‍⬛

WANTED: Experienced bunny rabbit lovers🐰

We currently have 3 rabbits in our care that are in need of responsible, loving homes.

Bun Bun (beige and white) is a senior male that just needs a safe place to flop and and hang out. He is no trouble and spends his day lounging or nibbling on his fresh veggies.

Lupin and Luffy are both young males and have the most beautiful chocolate colored fur. They are hand friendly, don't mind being picked up and have velvety soft fur. They are used to living in a room cage free and also get along with cats.

Additional pictures of our 2 beauties💕🐾

We are considering splitting these 2 up in order to find loving homes for them both. Although they have been spoiled here with us, prolonged shelter living is not the best set up for large, energetic dogs.
They would be great company for an active family that enjoys hiking or walking and would fit in nicely as large couch potatoes.

Our handsome Oreo has been adopted and has settled in perfectly into his new home💜🐾

It's been 3 weeks since my last post and nobody came to visit me😓
I do love people but don't always appreciate being picked up.
I know I can be challenging at times due to my playful nature and sometimes I get carried away with excitement. But I have a larger than life personality and lots of love to give.

Have a look at these magnificent Mastiff beauties.....
Nala (mom) 3 years and Kali (baby) 8 months are looking for a home together.
They are gentle giants and don't realize their own strength. Their main goal is to be cuddly lap dogs despite their size.
We're looking for a home without small children and preferably someone with large breed experience.

Not with Easter eggs but with colorful catnip fish.
The visitors adopted an adorable kitten from us several years back and wanted to show their appreciation.
We are so grateful that they thought of us and our shelter cats were even happier for the visit.

Look who was live-trapped in the west end of St. John's just before the storm! We're hoping there is an owner out there who may have lost this little cutie.
Thanks to the concerned citizens who rescued him and brought him to us. He was glad to have a full belly and a warm place to lay his head after his big adventure.

Introducing handsome Shadow and his little piggy friend.
Shadow has come a long way since he arrived at the shelter.
Upon arrival, he was very fearful and unsure of his surroundings but with time and reassurance, he has certainly settled in.
He is quite the fan of catnip, as you can see from his second picture, and gets along well with other cats.

Pixie Sue and Angus are looking for a loving home together💕

These 2 cuties were born outside along with their 4 siblings and thankfully were rescued and taken inside by some concerned cat lovers.
They were 3 weeks of age when found and have now blossomed into beautiful, sweet kitties. Their 4 other littermates have all been adopted and now it's their time to be chosen.
Pixie Sue and Angus are a little shy with strangers but quickly warm up once they get the chance to cuddle.
They are 4 months of age, would do best in a quiet home and get along well with other cats.

🐾Handsome Vic is looking for a new home🐾

Are you looking for a one in a million cool cat? Then Vic is the guy for you.
He was originally adopted from us but unfortunately needs to find a new family to worship him. We would like to make adoption arrangements rather than have him come back to the shelter. Vic prefers to be the only cat and tends to get stressed in a shelter environment.
His previous owner tells us that he thrived in his new home and was an affectionate, devoted companion. Vic was well behaved, adaptable to new environments and even learned to enjoy outside on a harness under strict supervision.

Max came to us from a loving owner who could no longer care for him. He was dearly loved and had constant companionship. It is for this reason that he needs a very special home.
He will require a new owner who either works from home or with a family where someone can consistently keep him company💜

Max is a 6 year old neutered male Boxer/Husky cross. He is housetrained but may be destructive if left alone unattended.
Max is a sweetheart and will lie down to cuddle whenever we have the chance to do so. He just wants somewhere to settle and relax.

Beautiful Olivia is in need of a new home💕🐾

She came to us as a stray so we don't have a whole lot of background information on this beauty. What we do know is that Olivia has a wonderful, friendly personality.
She's super happy, loves to play fetch and would make a wonderful walking companion.
When she sees staff in the morning, her tail wags non-stop and she almost appears as if she's smiling. Olivia is super intelligent and aims to please. She is middle aged and will be spayed soon.

It's that time of year again when we see an increased number of male unneutered cats here at the shelter🐾

"Tommies", as we affectionately call them, have the best purrsonalities and seem to appreciate finally being rescued.
Pewter, now neutered, is one of them and is patiently waiting for his new home💕

Hi, my name is Bailey and I've just arrived at the Humane Services Animal Shelter!

The ladies here tell me I'm a petite little boy and they love to cradle me like a baby. I am 15 months old, so I think I am full grown by now. I'd like to be put on a consistent routine so I can learn the house rules and complete my puppy training.

Whoever adopts me will get lots of kisses, so they must be prepared for an affectionate cuddle bug. I just need time to settle in and adapt to my new home🐾🙂

Cara is a perfect petite lady who has been waiting long enough for a loving home. She is super affectionate, follows you around like a little puppy and has the sweetest "kitten" meow🐾💕

Please give her a chance and come meet this precious girlie. Although we love her dearly and she causes no trouble in our main cat room, Cara deserves to have a home of her own.
