WHO ARE WE….. AARF was established in 1998.

AARF is a No Kill Rescue

AARF exists to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abandoned, abused and unwanted animals. We work with local animal control to help dogs and cats; we take on extreme medical cases that require long term veterinary care. AARF uses a hands-on approach to train and rehabilitate animals so that they may become family pets. Our program proves that the rate of successful placeme

nts is far higher if the animal is healthy, socialized, well trained and re-homed in an environment suited to his or her personality. AARF ensures that all dogs and cats that come into the rescue are fully vetted. Each and every one is vet checked, wormed, treated for fleas, spayed/neutered and microchipped. As well we take on extreme medical cases that require long term veterinary care ie heart worm cases, orthopedic cases, etc. AARF is strictly a not-for-profit rescue; we receive no funds from any agency, corporation or government. AARF relies soley on the kindness and generosity of the public and community.

We received the cutest video from the clinic today with two of our sweet girls.
Both girls were rescued out of shelters where their time had run out and both needed medical intervention.

Madeline is doing very well since her surgery to remove her eye. She has a little buddy now who we named CiCi.

CiCi is one of our more difficult cases as she was born with a severe deformity. Her knee caps are completely turned inward which causes her legs to cross over. She also has a collapsed vertebrae due to trauma. We had a specialist appointment at MOVEH where she was thoroughly examined and new x-rays were taken. There isn’t anything we can do about her back legs. Surgery was not an option as it would not be successful. With the collapse vertebrae it could be OK or later down the road it might cause neurological problems. She is in good spirits and is not suffering. She’s quite a sweet and happy little kitten. The doctor said to give her the best time of her life for however long it might be.
We will be looking into getting her a wheelchair.
She is loved by so many people and we will do whatever is in the best interest of CiCi’s well-being.

We are so grateful to the staff at East Mountain Animal Hospital for taking such good care of the girls.

We received the cutest video from our wonderful foster parents Cat and Dylan. Since being in their care Bug has blossomed so much. She’s a very sweet girl who is starting to realize she doesn’t have to be afraid anymore.
We now call her Love Bug 🥰❤️

We welcome with so much love Lilo into AARF family.

We are so grateful to Chris at UnderDog Academy for making room to provide her with a safe place for her to land.

The future is bright for you now Lilo, you have your whole life ahead of you.

We will be looking for a foster to adopt home for Lilo but we first need to get to know her and let her decompress as she came from a very stressful shelter environment. We will post updates to let everyone know how she’s doing and the progress she is making.

Sweet little Bizzy is growing like a w**d and doing fabulous in her foster home with Samantha and Evan.

We give so much thanks to our foster homes who make incredible differences in the life of an animal and need ❤️

Bizzy is loving life and having so many fun adventures. She’s such a smart cookie and catches on so quickly. Bizzy will be starting training soon with Chris and his wonderful staff UnderDog Academy.

Introducing and welcoming Bug to the AARF family ❤️

This sweet little one has made so much progress since she’s coming to our rescue from a high kill shelter where she almost lost her life.

Bug was so terrified, but we’ve told her she is safe and that she doesn’t have to worry anymore. She has now been spayed and had a much needed dental to remove a broken tooth.

We would love Bug to find a loving and caring forever home where she can blossom or a loving and caring foster home. We do have our foster to adopt program which is a wonderful way to make a difference in a cat’s life by fostering with the possibility of adopting.

We give so much thanks to the wonderful staff at East Mountain Animal Hospital for taking such excellent care of Bug. Thank you for giving her extra TLC to help her adjust.

Sweet Delilah has made awesome progress. She had her leg amputated and has been spayed. She’s doing really well with her mobility and adjusting well as a tripod. Nothing can hold this girl back!

Her body condition has improved substantially and she’s put on much needed weight.

We will be doing a f***l recheck and we’re crossing all fingers and paws that she tests negative for coccidia. Once she is clear of this nasty parasite, she will be moved into a wonderful and caring Foster Home.

We wanted to give everyone an update on Madeline unfortunately the injury to her eye was not responding to medical intervention and causing her a lot of discomfort and pain.

This week she had her eye removed. She no longer has constant pain associated with the injury. She is adapting very well.

Madeline is a very sweet, affectionate and playful five month old kitten. She is alsogood with cat friendly cats.

We are so honoured to have such amazing supporters to help make a difference in the life of an animal in need.

We are so grateful to Turkstra Lumber who held this wonderful fundraising event, we feel so incredibly lucky. Not only did this event help the rescue tremendously, it also helped to empower and give confidence to woman to learn how to use power tools. Thank you Jon, Sarah and the Turkstra Team ❤️

We are excited to share the fantastic news that Daisy and Aurora, a.k.a. Daphne have officially been adopted! Daisy and Aurora had some health issues with a severe case of coccidia. We are so thankful to Jackie and Justin for their excellent care and devotion to the girls. The girls are so loved and cherished, and are living their best lives ❤️❤️

Little Stevie is doing great! He had a thorough vet examination, his ears were scoped and everything looks good. We are going to bring him to the Chiropractor to see if anything’s out of alignment in regard to his head tilt. Stevie is such a loving, playful, and very sweet kitten. We have a newcomer to welcome into the AARF family! Meet Barney, who is approximately 8 years old and an easy 14 pounds. He could lose a little bit of weight, but who’s counting when you’re house hunting! He may have a mix of something else, but we’re not quite sure. In any case, his chocolate brown colouring is just gorgeous. Sadly, Barney came to us from an owner abandonment situation. He’s a really sweet, resilient boy who lived with cats and a large female dog. Barney needs a new happy family! Let’s give Barney his best life!! He’s looking for a foster home or a foster-to-adopt home; a place where someone is home more often than not (work from home or retirees?!) Apartment living would not be ideal as Barney wants to be around his hoomans; he has barked when left alone in the past. Some patient exposure training may overcome that. He is energetic and he loves to go on walks. As you would expect from a dog named Barney, he is affectionate and loves to cuddle! Won’t you say you love him too?!! Bonus, Barney is crate trained, he actually loves his crate! A fully fenced-in yard is also a requirement as Barney would really enjoy a backyard to roll in the grass and romp around in. He’s still got lots of life and love left! We are still getting to know Barney and would love to get him settled into a Barney-loving home situation. We offer our guidance along the way to make this happen and all expenses are paid during the foster period.
