The RCC boostered the Friday agility trial at AKC in conjunction with the national specialty. Congratulations goes to Michelle Whistlecraft and her girl Brava who scored 100 out of the Master Excellent Standard class.

Thank you to everyone who attended our National Specialty this past weekend at AKC in Okotoks, AB.

A National cannot happen without the dedicated help of our volunteers who did everything from sourcing prizing, obtaining sponsorships/donations, sorting all of the prizing, labelling, exhibitor bags, doing the premium, ribbons, catalogue etc etc etc. it’s a HUGE undertaking to take on such a big event. Thank you doesn’t seem enough.

The Club wishes to personally thank Gwen Haynes, Amanda Halayko and Angie Saunders for their dedication to get this show off the ground and ready on show day. They worked tirelessly on every detail for the show.

Special thanks as well to all of our helpers who helped put out the prizing and ribbons and helped clean up the aftermath of a national specialty. It indeed takes a village. Our wonderful ring stewards kept the show flowing.

We wish to thank all of our sponsors and donators who helped make this event happen. The prizing was exceptional and each person who came out to play received something.

Congratulations to all of the winners in both the sweeps and the specialty conformation!!! There were so many lovely exhibits in the ring each time a class went in.

We also held our national obedience and rally trial on the Friday evening. Congratulations to our HIT winner from obedience and our High Aggregate winner from Rally. It was a long day and the dogs (and handlers) were tired but continued to give it their all. We had exceptional ring stewards and lovely judges for this event.

Hope everyone enjoyed themselves and made it home safely.

From her current family:

I am located in Edmonton Alberta. 3 yr old female rottweiler. Her previous owner asked me to take her because he had addiction issues, he is not capable of taking her back. She is not good with cats. She is not good with small children, I have a teenage son who she is very good with, but I would not be comfortable with her being around small children, especially as she is very dog-reactive and lunges.

She understands 'sit', and 'lay down', we have been working on 'stay'. She takes treats gently. She does not have manners when there are distractions/dogs, she is food-motivated only when there are no other stimulants (sounds, movement, etc.) She has high anxiety and I was told that she was abused by one of the previous families who had her (this included small children) and she was kept in a basement for most of her life. She has come a long way from when she first came to live with me. She used to bark at everything but is now much more settled and only barks if someone is close to our fence.

Rescue story

My elderly parents had some unforeseen health conditions and could no longer look after me. I used to live on a farm!

Bio

Hello, my name is Sir and I’m a 2 year-old good boy. My previous mom said I’m a purebred Rottweiler although we don’t have the paperwork. I have burrowing-into-your-soul puppy dog eyes and think I’m a lapdog. I like to sleep in my foster mom’s bed. I’m quiet at night. Once I get some good exercise (I get random zoomies) I just chill and sleep. I’m a tender, sensitive boy who is very aware of my surroundings.

I’m very food motivated!! I like to chase cats and cars so a no cat home is best. And someone who can handle 90 lbs of muscle on a harness is a must! I was hit by a car as a puppy so I have to be careful with cars.

I’m from a farm and did not do well with the chickens. I’m doing okay with my foster mom’s 2 other medium sized pitty x and collie x dogs. I ride in vehicles ok, no car sickness.

I’m good with going to the vet. I know my basic commands. I’m pretty bright so can catch on to things quickly.

Not sure how I am with this kids. I’m 6.5/10 on energy. Probably older kids?

I am neutered and vaccinated and recently went to the vet.

Probably a full day of being in a crate will destroy my spirit so someone who can let me wander the house- so far not destructive in my foster moms house. I’m living in a kennel 4 days of the week when my foster mom is out of town working. I would love to have a family soon. I am full of love to give you!
