Our dear sweet Seamus arrived as a stray from Smiths Falls. He has mild CH (cerebellar hypoplasia), which means he is a bit wobbly on his feet. It is permanent condition, but he doesn't know any different so he manages just fine. He's gentle and gets along with other cats in his room. Seamus would likely do well in most households due to his easy going nature. Good evening LAWS Supporters,

I know many of you have been asking about the pup left in our yard and we are thrilled that his new family has reached out to share that he has found his forever home. His name is Redford, but goes by “Red”. Red has lucked out and also gained a new big sister Zoe. Don’t they look super cute together?

Congratulations to Red on finding his new family and a huge thank you to everyone who helped Red find his new home.

We know Red had a lot of interest, so if you are still interested in getting a dog, please consider a rescue dog. So many great rescues are at capacity with some amazing pups across the Ottawa valley. LAWS has 2 beautiful girls, Stella and Elsa still available. They have been fully trained and have been in boarding for over 430 days. More details are on our website or send us a DM.

As we reflect on the year behind us, we want everyone to know how grateful we are for the support we receive from this community.

It takes involvement at all levels of our community to be able to be able to save the lives of the animals in need.

Meet TORI

We are looking for a foster home where she can roam free so she can learn what it’s like to be part of a family and get the attention and love she so desperately needs and deserves. This sweet, gentle, and cuddly girl is looking for a foster home or foster to adopt.

As a foster parent you will be given everything you need to care for Tori at no cost including any vet visits.

She gets along with other cats but prefers a quiet environment.

Tori’s wish is to be welcomed in a loving environment with the freedom to run and play.

LAWS is closed from Dec 24 to Dec 26. We re-open to the public on Dec 27 from 11am to 4pm.

Nora, Noelle, Niall, Nellie and Nannie want to thank all our staff, supporters, volunteers and fosters for having the hearts of the Grinch this year❤️❤️❤️. Without you they wouldn’t have full bellies and all this love from over the holiday season. (They are not available for adoption yet and are currently in foster care).

We are thrilled to share that Ernie found a new home. He would like to thank everyone for supporting LAWS and wish you all a very Happy New Year!

I asked him what he wanted for Christmas and he said 3 things:
1 - A new furrever home with a furrever family.

3- For his last owner to know he is okay and will be well cared for by the amazing team at LAWS.

Another of our long term residents is Ralph. He has been with us since June. This shy boy spends his days tucked away in his bed, viewing the goings on in his room. He does enjoy gentle pets and chin rubs. His favourite thing is his wet food which he devours. Contact us if you are interested in Ralph.

It is that time of the year where we stop to reflect on what is important. And the paws at LAWS want to say thank you for your continued support in 2024. It was a rocky start, but with hard work and our amazing team of employees and volunteers, we have moved forward to keep focused on our mission to provide shelter and care for animals in need in our community.
Together, so far this year, we adopted out 525 cats and 20 dogs! This was possible because of you and your generosity. We are truly blessed to be part of this community.

Well t’is the season for colder weather, and although our pets have fur, please be advised of the increased risk of frostbite and hypothermia in this colder climate.

Remember our pair of shy cats who bonded at the shelter, Burke and Breezy?

Well their mom wanted to share that Burke is now trusting other humans and isn’t running as quickly to his little safe cat house! Breezy, on the other hand, is getting almost cuddly — but check out his pose in today’s photo! Too cute! 🙂

Young Opey has been with us since August when he arrived as a stray with his siblings, Olivia and Owenette. Opey is shy, however, he is curious and enjoys watching his roommates play from a safe distance. We are hoping there is an experienced cat lover willing to adopt Opey into their life where he can grow and explore at his own pace.
