Extreme cold is here!

Limit your furry companion's outdoor time and watch for signs of cold stress like shivering or paw-lifting. Wipe paws after walks to remove salt and chemicals, and never leave pets in a cold car, as they can quickly develop hypothermia.

If you’re concerned about an animal left outside, call Provincial Animal Welfare Services at 1-833-9ANIMAL (1-833-926-4625) immediately. For emergencies, call 911.

Stay warm and visit ontariospca.ca for more cold weather pet safety tips.

Have you seen my friends?

We were on a fantastic adventure last night in the area of Farmers Way and Piperville Road.

By-law picked me up and took this great picture of me, but my two buddies (boxer mix) escaped into the woods and it's really cold.

Please call 3-1-1 if you spot them so By-law can help them too! Ottawa and Valley Lost Pet Network

Keep your cats indoors!

Keep your cats indoors!

The temperature is expected to plummet tonight. The cold weather can pose dangers to your pet, especially cats who are allowed to roam.

Angel, a stray cat who was found lost and alone outdoors, was brought to the OHS so she could get the warmth, shelter, food and care she needed.

If you find a stray cat outdoors in the cold, call us at 613-725-3166 ext. 223 to ensure the cat can return home safely. If the cat is in danger, call Ottawa By-Law Services at 3-1-1.

😻😻😻 WE HAVE A FOSTER TO ADOPT PLACEMENT FOR THE LITTLE BOY !!! YAY 😻😻😻 !!!

**********************************************
*** EXTREMELY URGENT !!! ***

Hello Friends ,

Once again we are in the middle of a rodeo and once again a cat desperately needs your help !

I'll try to make the long story short . A kitty boy was surrendered by his owner to another rescue group . Their foster cancelled the last minute . We took over the kitty's care so he didn't need to go to a shelter . But our foster family can't handle him . The kitty is super sweet and loving but he is really hyper and demands attention around the clock . He just has too much energy. To make the things worse , he has been let to roam while owned and he constantly wants to go outside .

We need a placement for him IMMEDIATELY. He is fully vetted - neutered , with his shots up to date , treated for parasites upon intake and kept strictly indoors since . Perfectly healthy .

He would do best in a household with a catio where he can play and burn this extra energy . Walks on harness are a possibility as well . He would like a young energetic ( preferably female ) cat as a playmate also . We don't know how he is with dogs .

Is there anyone willing to give him a chance in life ???
It sounds pathetic but in his situation a catio could save him . We are willing to drive him to his new place even if it's far , as long as it's the right spot for him .

Please spread the word around and contact us ASAP if you could help him !!! I won't post his picture here (respecting the request of the other rescue ) but I'll send it to you in the Messenger , together with other details .

Thank you so much for your help ❤!!!

Winter Dog Walking Update 🐾

Starting December 1, dog-walking in Gatineau Park will be limited to the 4 designated winter hiking trails. Why?

1️⃣ Conservation: Even leashed dogs can stress wildlife, especially as they struggle to survive harsh winter conditions.

2️⃣ Winter Recreation: Dogs aren’t allowed on cross-country ski, snowshoe, or snow bike trails. They can damage the trail quality, leave waste behind, and their tracks can make skiing unsafe.

Here are the dog-friendly winter trails (December 1 to April 14):

📍 Sugarbush Trail (Chelsea, Gatineau Park Visitor Centre)
📍 Lauriault Trail (Mackenzie King Estate, P6)
📍 Pioneers Trail (Hull sector of Gatineau, P3)
📍 Capital Pathway (Hull sector of Gatineau, P1/P3)

Remember to always keep your dog leash and to stay on official, marked trails.

𝗢𝗻 𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗤-𝗧𝗶𝗽 𝗻'𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲́𝘁𝗲́ 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗲́𝗲 🙀🥰💗

With her British Shorthair looks and her quiet personality, we thought she'd be gone in no time 😺

Q-Tip is an adorable little girl who deserves a gentle, soothing home. She appreciates peace and quiet and will need a patient family who will give her time to settle in at her own pace. 🏡✨

On the health side, Q-Tip has a little tartar, mild gingivitis and a few missing teeth. A visit to the vet to establish a good dental maintenance plan would be ideal for her. 🩺🦷

Still down for more dog-walking on the trails?

Though not quite the tail end of fall, your leashed pet can use most trails until November 30:

🐶 Remember – dogs aren’t allowed on trails with a ‘K’ (King Mountain, Pink Lake, Luskville)

💩 Pick up after your dog and dispose of the bag in a garbage can
