Results of our (MDS-Nosy Dogz) trial on February 4th in Saanichton. We had lots of fun playing with the puzzles set by judge Kathy Hansen. We had some issues with the scoring workbook so we weren’t able to announce our High In Trial at the trial so I super happy to announce that it was Zzzulu and Pam Koiner. Congratulation on the first of many I’m sure ❤️
The heart palpitating, crazy making countdown to “how fast can I type” is no more for entering Meriadoc Dog Sports - Nosy Dogz Scent Detection SDDA trials. For our February 4 trial we got 58 entries for a one day trial - 32 Advanced and 40 Excellent. This level of interest is amazing and wonderful and sad all at once. The sadness is because we can only run so many components in a day so a LOT of people are disappointed. So going forward our entries will be by lottery for Advanced through Elite; for Started we will continue to hold 10 spots available to those entries. Our hope is that this will give more opportunities for everyone.
Trial Summaries from our November 11, 12 and 13 trials. We had a few challenging searches but overall a fun trial and everyone took home the best dog at the end of the day. For all you stat nerds, enjoy! 😊

WHAT: fun-filled container challenges suitable for all levels
WHEN: Sunday, December 10
50 Container Level 1 challenge for Untitled/Started titled teams
50 Container Level 2 challenge for Advanced titled teams
100+ container challenge for Excellent/Elite, CH or MACH teams
WHERE: RCMP Barn, Saanich Fairgrounds, Saanichton, BC
ENTRY FEE: $50 per dog

RULES:
Handler/Dog teams may only enter the search appropriate for their level, however, a dog may level up i.e. an Advanced dog may be entered in the 100 container search. Dogs who hold an Excellent/Elite title or a CH or a MACH must enter the 100 Container Search.
A handler may enter ONE dog in each search - second dogs will not be permitted for this event.
All containers will be numbered; handler must call out container #
50 CONTAINERS 1
4 minute time limit
There will be clear, no distractors, and 3 hides
50 CONTAINERS 2
4 minute time limit
There will be clear, Advanced level distractors, and 2-7 hides
100+ CONTAINERS
7 minute time limit
There will be clear, Elite level distractors, and 2-10 hides
PERSNICKETY RULES AND POINTS SYSTEM:
Placements are based on points and, in the event of a tie, time
THE GOOD
+10 POINTS for every correct find
+20 points for correct finish
THE BAD
-5 POINTS for first incorrect find
-5 POINTS for damaged container
-5 POINTS for dropped treats
-10 POINTS for second incorrect find
THE UGLY:
NQ for third incorrect find
NQ for absolute destruction of container
NQ for eliminating in search area

Photos are now up from the Meriadoc/NosyDogz SDDA trial last weekend. As always, you can find everything at my website www.sureshot.ca , going into the dog events folder. I've set up one gallery for each day. Only classes I missed were Elite Interiors and the first two rooms of Excellent Interiors as I didn't think I could avoid influencing the search by being in those spaces. I also missed dogs running before or immediately after me. And, of course, the longer you spent in the search area, the more photos are likely :-).

MDS-Nosy Dogz April trial has room on Saturday for Started dogs and a few more Games entries. Because we are using 2 venues it was split into 2 entries on the SDDA Events page and the entry for the 29th didn’t have the link for the premium list so I know some Started folks had difficulty finding where to enter.

For the Sunday trial we are full with a waitlist.
The premium list for the April 29/30 MDS-NosyDogz trial was sent out today and it has caused some confusion (even I went “Huh?”) when I saw the email. The PL has all the information for both days and when the entry form goes live on the 10th of April it will contain all the components to be entered for both days. Because we have a different venue for each day the SDDA system doesn’t handle it very well. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused. Questions still? Ask away 😊
Afternoon all
As a lot of you know we have had a difficult time securing venues for our April 8/9 scent detection trial. We finally were able to get 2 great places only to then not be able to get a judge for the weekend. Because of this, we made the tough decision to move our trial to the weekend of April 29/30. We know that it will somewhat conflict with the CWags trial in Duncan, however, there just wasn’t another weekend that was even close to viable in the weeks following. For our trial on the 30th we will be running Excellent and Elite so hopefully there isn’t too much crossover of folks.
For anyone looking for handling classes on the south island.
Handling Classes are back starting March 13.

Sorry to be so slow with these. Here are the summaries for the MDS-Nosy Dogz trial held the November long weekend. Lots of fun and lots of challenges. Thank you to Sheri Luzzi for judging and to all the volunteers that make these trials possible. Thank you to all the competitors who have supported our trials this year.
That’s a wrap for us! See you all next year - we are working hard to find some new places to play and have plans to bring in more new judges.
