We received this lovely message from Gizmo (Belle and Chevy): My new family is absolutely pawesome! They welcomed me with open arms and lots of belly rubs. I've settled really well in my new home, and I must say it's a nice place with so many new smells and sights. The bonus is all the new friends I made at the park right behind my home. It is so much fund to run around an play. My humans always make sure I'm safe and happy. Speaking of my humans, they have been spoiling me with delicious treats and fun toys. We've completed puppy, intermediate, and advanced training, and they are so patient with me. I can sit and stay, and I'm working hard on letting the ball go when my Dads throw it for me. They say I'm a very good boy and give me lots of praise and cuddles. I also wanted to tell you about my big doggy sister, Missy. She has been so kind and gentle with me, showing me the ropes and helping me settle in. We've become best buddies, playing together and even napping side by side. Missy has been teaching me all about the best spots in the house and how to get extra treats from our humans. I'm healthy and growing well. My teeth are coming in perfectly, and I'm already 19kg! The Vet said I'm in great shape, thanks to the wonderful care you gave me as a puppy. I miss my littermates, but I'm so excited about all the adventures ahead. Meet Leksi the Australian Labradoodle, also known as, the Chief Officer of Happiness at Irina Fortey Photography! I wanted to introduce this little star 🌟 as she’s the muse that started my serious venture into dog photography. She has brought so much positivity into my life, she might as well be given a team photo!

Leksi is a seasoned professional in the art of spreading joy and tail-wagging positivity. With years of experience in delivering smiles and slobbery kisses, Leksi takes her role seriously when it comes to ensuring every interaction is met with a wag of approval. She’s often present during human sessions and spreads her love to those special visitors at the studio. Everyone leaves with a smile after meeting this friendly and loving girl.

When she is not busy overseeing the studio and office morale, you can find Leksi napping in a patch of warm sunlight, dreaming up new ways to brighten everyone’s day. When she’s not working, she keeps her energy flow and human bond strong with agility classes. She’s super fast and clever! I hope you get to meet her someday soon! We are heartbroken to share that Halton Hills Juno, our second breeding dog at Canadian Doodle Puppies left us today at 15.5 years of age. Juno lived her whole life with me and can be found in many of the pedigrees of our Canadian Doodle pups as she was one of the two foundation dogs of our breeding program. She was named after Juno Beach, as a tribute to our proud Canadian heritage. Juno was a quiet and introverted girl by nature, but she was also brave, feisty, and independent. She was insatiably curious and had an incredible sense of smell, especially for food. Words can’t express how much we will miss her. 💔

Thank you to Maria and Spencer for this lovely message about Dottie: We wanted to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for entrusting us with precious “light girl” now known to us these past two years as Dottie. Today is Dottie’s “gotcha” day! She has truly become the best part of our family. She has brought us and continues to bring us so much joy since the day she arrived. And she is the happiest pup!

Her loyalty and affectionate nature have created an inseparable bond with us. Whether it's brightening our mornings with her enthusiastic greetings (she loves to sleep on our pillow with us) or cuddling up with us during quiet evenings on the couch, her presence has become so important in our lives.

Beyond the companionship Dottie brings to us, she has also taught us valuable lessons in patience, responsibility, and unconditional love. Watching her grow and thrive has been nothing short of rewarding. We are truly grateful to you for raising such a wonderful pup in those initial few weeks. She is our world and she is the best!

We are so focused on helping our nervous dog, that we rarely talk about the mix of emotions we personally go through. We can feel intense guilt and regret that our dog may never be able to attend classes, run off lead on a beach or even sit in a pub. Due to their emotional needs, we may have to make their world smaller and naturally we worry about all the experiences they may be missing out on. While these feelings are understandable, our dog doesn't really know what they are missing, as long as they have us to love them for who they are. - Holly Leake

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has made changes to the travel requirements for dogs entering the United States. These new rules and regulations take effect on August 1st, 2024.

As a brief overview, dogs will be subject to a strict set of regulations before they are allowed to cross the border into the US. All dogs, including puppies older than 6 months of age, working dogs, service dogs, and returning canine residents of the United States will have to meet these requirements. Puppies under the age of 6 months will only be allowed to cross into the US under a commercial export.

Dogs will be required to be in good health, have proof of current Rabies vaccination, and a valid Health Certificate completed by a licensed Canadian veterinarian, and have their documentation stamped by a veterinarian at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The CDC has a helpful DogBot (https://www.cdc.gov/importation/bringing-an-animal-into-the-united-states/dogs.html?utm_campaign=SendGrid&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=SendGrid&utm_term=First+Sendgrid+Campaign) tool which can walk you through the specific documentation and health requirements needed for your dog.

Please keep in mind that it can take several weeks to prepare the necessary documentation and valid health requirements for your dog for travel. If you are planning to travel to the US with your dog in August, we recommended reaching out to your Veterinarian now to book an appointment, and to contact the CFIA in Ottawa at 613-773-8660.
