I can't stress how important it is to include raw meaty chewing bones in your pet's diet. Nothing cleans their teeth or massages their gums as well.....and I am not talking about necks and backs although they do assist with dental health....I am talking about actual femur bones and knuckle bones.
I will include in the comments pictures of all three of my dogs teeth as an example of this.
Pie is 9 y.o. and has never been a bone chewer but does eat duck necks and as you can see his teeth and gums are not great....in fact is he going in for a dental cleaning which is very expensive.
Leisel has always loved her raw meaty bones and at age 6 it shows....sure there is a bit of wear on her teeth but they are clean and healthy and so are her gums.
Cyrus is only 7 months old and thankfully he loves to chew bones just like his sister so I don't imagine he will ever need dental work.
The Raw Feeding Veterinary Society defines a "gold standard" diet for pets as one that is as close to the evolutionary diet of dogs and cats as is practically possible.
They advocate for a diet made from fresh or frozen raw meaty bones, meats, organ meats, fruits and vegetables, that is minimally processed, other than grinding and freezing.

3 tips for helping your pets paws through the winter months
๐พKeep your pet hydrated - Your petโs skin and paw pads need to stay hydrated and this can be tougher in the dry, cold winter months. Make sure your pet has plenty of water available.
๐พ Dip your pup's paws into a shallow bowl of warm water (make sure itโs not hot!), then towel dry. This will remove ice, salt, chemicals, and any other buildup their paws may have been exposed to.
๐พ Keep walks as short as possible in cold winters. If you pet starts lifting their feet that means they are too cold.
Well everyone if you've ever wondered what Paddy does when she isn't running the business or working on her acreage. It is usually something with the dogs like a hike. The dogs other favorite activity is taking herding lessons, going to herding clinics and next month they are going to trial and see if they can't get Pie his first herding title.
