We are incredibly grateful for the generous donation made to TPOC by McCormick & Company leadership team and employees.

Every year, McCormick & Company thoughtfully selects two charities to donate to and partakes in a 12-month campaign to raise money for them, including employees taking on an extra day of work on a weekend and donating half their earnings.

We are blown away by McCormick’s dedication to improving the world around them, something we understand and appreciate.

WOW! We can’t believe it’s been 20 years. Twenty years ago today, Judy Sauvé and six volunteers in Hawkesbury, Ontario started our humble organization to provide therapy dog and cat visits to seniors, children, and youth. Almost a year later, TPOC was granted charitable status. Today, we have teams across the country improving the lives of thousands of people.

August 30th is officially TPOC Day. We encourage you today to share a memory about how TPOC has impacted you. If you are someone who received our services, let us know in the comments or in your own post how we helped you or a loved one. If you are one of our dedicated volunteers, comment on this post or share a picture of you and your pet on your own page and let us know your favorite thing about volunteering for TPOC. Don’t forget to tag us! ❤️

It is warming up, fast, and summer always promises outdoor fun: beach days, picnics, cottage getaways, camping trips and more. While summer is undoubtedly Canadian’s favourite time to get out and enjoy our beautiful landscape, the season presents hazards to our beloved pets. With some tips and awareness, you can take advantage of the summer months safely with your best friend.

☀️Hydration is key. Be sure to always bring a reusable water bottle for your pet and allow them breaks to drink.

☀️It is a good idea to trim your dog frequently in the summer to relieve them of the heat. But also make sure to talk to your vet about if your dog’s skin needs any extra care when it is exposed to the sun. Dogs can suffer from sunburns too!

☀️When temperatures soar, a parked car can quickly endanger an animal’s life. If you see a pet distressed in a parked car and you cannot find the owner, fast action can save a life. Contact your local SPCA or the police. It is against the law to leave any pet unattended in a parked vehicle in a manner that endangers their health or safety.

☀️The asphalt and cement of sidewalks and roadways can become extremely hot during the daylight hours. A dog or cat’s paw pads are sensitive to heat and can actually burn on contact. Place the back of your hand on the hot pavement-if it’s uncomfortable after a minute, it’s probably uncomfortable for your pet as well. Instead of hitting the pavement, stick to grassy parks or walk before or after 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., when the sun is less intense.

☀️Dogs and cats do not sweat the way we humans do and can easily become overheated in hot weather. Symptoms of heat exhaustion include excessive panting, fast heartbeat, uncoordinated movement, drooling, vomiting, diarrhea and even collapsing. If you suspect your pet has heat exhaustion, act fast - get them out of the heat and get them to their vet or an emergency clinic right away.

☀️Finally, when it’s too hot, bring the fun inside!

Diesel is ready to go! Click below to see more posts from our Brampton team.

Diesel, Adele's Golden Doodle, likes to be prepared and really misses his visits at Woodhall Park Retirement Village. So, after his last grooming, he decided it was time to try on his TPOC scarf to make sure that it still fits well and have his picture taken to show that he's ready for action whenever it's safe to return to visiting. Diesel is loving and gentle with the residents and with Adele by his side, they make a wonderful team who brings smiles and happiness to everyone they visit! 🐾🐾❤️

It was time for a refresh! About two years ago, TPOC volunteers took on the endeavour of building an entirely new website for our organization. Our website committee worked throughout the pandemic to make the TPOC website more representative of our brand and make information more accessible to interested volunteers, facilities, and donors.

We are so proud of the result and invite you to take some time to peruse the new site and see all the wonderful photos we have added! www.tpoc.ca

Our mission remains: Enhancing quality of life and health through the animal/human bond.
