Meet Zack, a gorgeous 7 month old Golden Retriever pup who is looking for a dedicated, patient home. He was surrendered to us when his owners had to leave the country urgently.

We know Zack will turn a lot of heads due to his super-model good looks. But it's important to understand that Zack lived in a very small world for the first months of his life, spending most of his time in a garage or outside. Therefore, he missed out on the socialization and positive reinforcement that all puppies need. Because of this, he can be unsure meeting new people at times. However, once you're in with Zack, he loves cuddling and goofing around.

In addition it is clear his body language cues were not respected in the past, so he felt the need to be defensive when uncomfortable. We have been careful to handle him with patience and respect. We are looking for a home that will continue our progress in earning Zack's trust, and that will provide him with the love and stability that he needs.

Due to his worried nature around over-handling, and his over-exuberant nature when he is comfortable, we are looking for a home without children, please. Well-matched teenagers could be suitable.

Zack has shown us that he wants to chase cats and rabbits, so no small critters, please. Zack has played very well with some dogs here at the shelter, but not all dogs. So he is what we call dog-selective. A well-matched dog sibling is a possibility.

Poor Zack was suffering from an awful home-haircut when he arrived here, which was the previous owners' attempt at dealing with a flea infestation. Perhaps they didn't realize that he also had a bacterial skin infection as a result. With flea treatment, antibiotics, and medicated baths, we have seen a great transformation in his condition. We don't anticipate this will be an ongoing issue, once it's resolved.

Zack's adoption fee is $400 + tax. He will be vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered prior to adoption. We're happy to answer questions by phone or email, but visits will be reserved for pre-screened applicants.

We are looking forward to our event tomorrow at Fraser Valley Cidery in Langley from 1 pm to 3 pm. If you aren’t looking to adopt feel free to come by for some puppy cuddles.

🆘 Do you have any large crates that you aren’t using and willing to donate?

Cat crates needed, please! We are desperate for hard plastic *large cat* crates - similar in size to the photo (approx 24in X 16.7in X 14.5in). We have plenty of small cat/kitten crates, but they are too small for adult cats.

They don't need to be new! Gently used crates in good working condition are appreciated, too. Crates with top and front entry are a bonus! 😻

If you are able to donate a crate, we would be so thankful. 🙏 Donations can be dropped off in the bin outside our entrance at 420 Boyne Street in Queensborough.

These two girls are best friends and Boston (R) was thrilled to have Penny (L) back after her holidays. It is pretty cute seeing the girl pack back together again. I sat down on the bench for the girl’s water break and Penny jumped up beside me and then Boston followed suit. I love these girls 💗

FOSTER or ADOPTER needed! Poor Rainbow is struggling with stress and anxiety here at the shelter. Please help us spread the word to find an experienced foster, or better yet, an adopter!

Rainbow is very affectionate, cuddly and playful. She is looking for a home without other pets but well-matched children are fine! She will do best in a home with a fenced yard as she can be reactive to other dogs.
