The holiday season is truly magical, and we want to keep it that way for your whole family! Some festive decorations and holiday treats can pose serious risks to our curious pets. 🎄
To help you avoid an unexpected trip to the emergency room, check out our quick safety checklist:
🍽️ Feast Safety: Please keep your pet away from the table! Fatty foods like turkey skin, gravy, and butter can cause pancreatitis. You must also keep toxic foods like chocolate, xylitol (found in sugar-free gum/candy), grapes, onions, and alcohol out of reach. Don’t forget to secure trash in a lidded bin to prevent “dumpster diving” for bones and food packaging!
✨ Decoration Dangers: Some decorations, like tinsel, is extremely dangerous, especially for cats! If swallowed, it can cause life-threatening intestinal blockages. Anchor your tree so it doesn’t tip, and avoid adding chemicals or aspirin to the tree water. Finally, tuck away electrical cords to prevent accidental shocks from curious chewers.
🌿 Toxic Plants: Lilies are highly toxic to cats; even a small amount of pollen can cause kidney failure. Be also cautious with Holly, Mistletoe, and Poinsettias as well!
