Best Job Ever

After working in Management for over 20 years, I desperately needed a change. I decided that working with animals has always been a dream since I was young, so that is what I should do. I became a certified Dog Trainer and quickly realized this career involves training people not dogs. Not that I don’t love people but I needed to immerse myself in the pure joy of animals. I always looked upon dog grooming as a ridiculous occupation and that only self absorbed people paid money do get their dogs pampered. WOW was I WRONG. I had managed a pet store for awhile and realized that grooming is necessary for animal health and well being. So I thought maybe this is for me, not the foo foo grooming, nothing wrong with that, but my goal was to create a positive environment around the process.

Although I have only been grooming for just over 4 years, I have learned and grown so much as a person, peer and employee. The people I have groomed with have taught me so much from my first salon to my current one. I will take everything they have taught me and continue to grow. There have been many ups and downs and untold patience from the people I have worked with. But they have all helped mold me into a groomer and person I am proud to be. I thank them all. I have learned that what is the most important thing in grooming is the experience for the pet and the parent’s assurance that their family member is in loving hands, NOT perfection.

I can honestly say I love my job, I enjoy going to work everyday and feel like this is what I was meant to do. It took a long time and a few jobs but I am finally there, where work is not work it is just something I love to do.
