Today we received notifications for regional awards in TICA. We live in the largest region of the association - more members that any other of the 15 regions TICA has across the world.
Walter is best Turkish Angora alter in the region and 5th best Alter overall for the year.
Sienna is the best Turkish Angora kitten in the region and 5th best Kitten Overall for the year.
Prue is the best Abyssinian kitten in the region and 7th best Kitten Overall for the year.
Diana is 2nd best Turkish Angors kitten in the region and 18th best Kitten Overall for the year.
And as a surprise…. Rosie is 2nd best Abyssinian in the region - with just one lonely show that I took her to so she could get a break from living with all the above me mentioned kittens for a weekend LOL!!!

Happy Father’s Day to all the daddy cats who have helped us through the years.
Last night was the CFA North Atlantic Regional Awards Banquet. Unfortunately the location was 16 hours from where I live so there was no way I was attending to pick up Walter’s award.
Walter was the 12th Best Cat in Premiership for 2023-2024 in Region 1. He also became a Grand Premier at the first show of the year in May 2023.
Many thanks to Elaine Magee for picking up his awards - I will get them later on this summer.
And that’s a wrap for CFA.

4 years ago I woke to a Facebook message that my little blue baby girl had come into the world overnight.
My pretty blue Rose - Fidjiabyssin Azul Rosalinda of Finland - Rosie - once upon a time I thought I would never have a blue abyssinian and now they outnumber the other colors and breeds here.
Rosie you changed my life - you have given me the most beautiful babies and now you’re the best cuddler.
Here’s to another 20 years together.
A few weeks ago I took the girls to have their photos done - I was sure they would all have regional awards so I splurged.
Waylon Simpson Photography has done a remarkable job every time I have dragged cats to him. He’s managed amazing pics of even uncooperative cats! The girls were happy to play with a toy so a bit easier to work with.

TICA’s Estimated Standings are pretty much updated so I feel comfortable in sharing the year end results at this point. Congratulations to everyone who entered and showed in a TICA show…. It is an association that felt like home from the minute I stepped into a show hall. I have made friendships with so many people – I am afraid to actually mention any names for fear of forgetting someone – but you all know who you are.
The Turkish Angora Breed Standings are led by a Finnland cat – Iceman, Walter and Sienna are the best Championship, Alter and Kitten Turkish Angoras in the world. I congratulate my friends at Jennypurz Turkish Angoras, Chatterie du Bosphore, SIRIN Turkish Angora, Stenbury Cattery, Chatterie du Saint Paer, Highlanderclan Cattery, Havannurs Cattery and MagickTuffs Cattery for their participation and placings this year!! Get those Turks out there and show them off!!!! Thank you especially to Anna Rajkowski, Visa Huuhtanen, Emilia Laine (Adenium Cattery - Turkish Angoras), Barry Langille (Lonecat Turkish Angoras) and Jenny Wickle (Jennypurz Turkish Angoras) for the wonderful cats who made babies who are in the standings this year (Uliana, Chaos, Juno)!!
The Abyssinian Kitten Standings have incredible kittens in them – my one wish is that Prue was a month or so older so that I could have had her to more shows, but I am extremely proud that she is the 5th best Abyssinian Kitten in the world as well as the best Blue Abyssinian internationally. This wonderful kitten would not have been possibile without the cooperation of Ademi Turdieva at Winter Garden Cattery. Thank you for your friendship and assistance when most everyone else were uninterested. We did it!!! and next litter YOU KEEP ONE!!!! And primary thanks to the wonderful people who originally gave me "grandma" Rosie, who begat Sophia (Prue's momma) - Marie-Douce Castonguay and Guillaume Guy.
In the Northeast Region Sienna ended the year as 5th best kitten, Prue as 7th best kitten and Diana as 17th best kitten – all in an extremely competitive kitten class at every show.
He’s not “mine” but I am going to brag that Iceman will receive an International Award for being one of the top 25 Longhair Champions internationally – we had hoped he could hold on to an all breed top 25 but shows in particular areas of the world seem geared to moving that region’s cats up quickly with repetitive judges for 4-5 weekends in a row at the end of the year – I do feel that this is something that should be examined by TICA’s Board so that this unfair advantage is not repeated. Iceman is also the 3rd best Championship cat in his own region – Mid Atlantic.
And Walter will land at 5th Best Alter in the NorthEast region and will also be awarded 17th Best Alter Internationally. At the start of last show year I had an IW in TICA and a Regional Award in CFA on my wish list. And with TICA’s estimated standings I do believe we have achieved both of those. He is currently sitting at 12th Best Premier in CFA’s North Atlantic Region – final results will be updated next week there.
And my goodness TICA Northeast Region rocked it this year - we have 14 International Winners!!!! 2 kittens, 3 champions, 5 alters, 1 Houshold Pet Kitten and 3 Household Pets!! Way to represent the frozen north friends!!! I am fairly certain our amazing regional director Christian Cherau will be very proud and also had a lot to do with exhibitors even wanting to show their cats!!!
And now we rest. We are taking a few weeks to rest and relax – and Walter is officially retired but may come out to be a Pet Me Cat in the future. Anyone heading out soon to shows….. safe travels, groom your cats well, and most importantly…. Enjoy yourself!!!

Another cat show weekend - we are getting close to the end now!!!
All the cats I took really showed themselves to their best, were rewarded well and gained some very hard to get end of season points.
Walter made every final - including 2 firsts and 3 seconds - he behaved very well and I hope it continues!!
Iceman is a lover boy, Casanova, flirt. He kisses every judge who will let him. I’ve never seen anything like it and I am so proud of this boy who isn’t even mine! For an adult to gain over 150 points when he’s replacing rings that he had already won 197 (I know most people don’t get this but it’s impressive) is truly a blessing.
Sienna had a fantastic Saturday, Diana had a great Sunday and Prue just had a ton of fun with the judges who took time with her. I cannot ask for more!!! Kittens need to enjoy the shows so they will tolerate them once they have fully formed brains LOL
We actually have this coming weekend “off” and I get to spend 8 nights in my own bed before I head out for an overnight in halifax for work!!
The show report is out from last weekend and I’m thrilled to announce that little blue Abyssinian Prue was best kitten in the show. She impressed a lot of judges in a difficult aby kitten class and that followed through to their finals. Many commented on her warm color and ticking and resilient coat as well as the fact that she has “bedroom eyes” and enjoys the insanity of shows.
Sienna and Diana rounded out the top 7 kittens and also had breed competition.
Walter and Iceman gained some valuable end of season points as well.

Well that was a big show!! Toronto held a fish Pet Expo and the cat show was part of it. More than 220 cats were entered and the competition as fierce with several of the top 25 cats, kittens and alters in attendance.
Iceman (previously Jack from Uliana x Chaos) joined us and will be staying with me for the month. He is such a lover and likes to kiss the judges. He is truly a joy to show. With close to 100 champions he was lucky to get 4 finals.
Walter seems to have paid attention to how Iceman acts and is being kinder to the judges! He did very well at this show with close to 40 in his class. He made 14 finals and a good number of points were added to his balance.
Diana is a cool cucumber and loves to show. At 7 months of age she is an old pro. 2 finals for her in a field of 50+ kittens.
Sienna is the Turk kitten judges seem to prefer. But they don’t have to bath her. LOL. She killed it and made 7 finals!!!
Prue was one in a class of 6 abyssinian kittens, including the current breed leader who is just shy of 8 months. She, at 5 months of age, was in the top 3 of the breed each ring and made 4 finals including 2nd best kitten overall twice!!
We made it home last night and have a few days before we pack up to do it all over again!!!
We will be at the CPE Easter pet expo all weekend!!! Come visit us!!!
Further into the lockdown I was blessed with 2 more adorable kittens - V***n’s first litter. Tammy and Patty were little spitfires and still are today!!!

I just got home from "vacation" yesterday - I went with Gilda and Jerry (now Crispr) to Thailand. That's where they will be living now as they the start of a brand new Turkish Angora cattery just outside of Bangkok.
So they went to a cat show this weekend - the largest cat show for WCF - over 580 cats were entered in the World Cat Conference show.
Gilda did well - she wasn't a huge fan of the noises and commotion that happens at shows but she still managed to get....
1) CACP with nominated for Best in Show (NOMBIS)
2) 6th place for WCF ring for kittens
3) Best of Opposite S*x Kitten
Crispr did not care at all about the noises and commotion - he just played with whatever toy was in front of him!! He did very well at the show and placed as follows.....
1) CACP with NOMBIS
2) 8th place for WCF ring for kittens
3) Best in show for Semi Longhair Kitten
4) Best of the best in show kittens - 6th place
Their owners are thrilled, I am thrilled, Gilda and Crispr are exhausted and I am also very happy to be back home with my furry kids.
My world locked down on March 13th and these little bundles of fun arrived 2 days later.... and share their momma's birthday as well!!

The COVID litter - all are doing well and thriving today and I'd love to see up to date pics!!! 4 years old today!!
This girl came into my life and shook things up forever. Vivienne is SEVEN years old today and looks better than she did when she arrived. She is the queen of this castle (yes, she's even the boss of me) and has given me 2 wonderful girls to carry on now that she's spayed and "retired". Can't imagine not seeing this little walnut head with the adorable little nose.

Gilda and Jerry (now Crispr) are off to their forever home where they will hopefully make beautiful babies just outside of Bangkok Thailand!!!
Salahong and Thirakorn reached out a few months ago and their existing Somali program and the extensive conversations I’ve had with them allowed me to feel comfortable placing these kittens with them for their brand new Turkish angora breeding program.
It was a long trip to Thailand but I got to carry them in cabin and they were the rock stars that I hoped they would be to travel with.
The Show Report is out from last weekend - feeling very blessed to have 3 kittens in the Top 11 of 32 great babies!!!

As a friend often says after a cat show…. PINCH ME!!!
The end is in sight, every point matters, and those points are difficult to gain.
We attended the Crazy Pants Cat Club show on Long Island in New York this weekend along with 121 other cats!!!
Nevertheless Walter managed to make 11 of the 15 rings he was judged in. He gained a good number of points in those finals.
Sienna had fun at her second show…. 9 finals out of 18 rings including FOUR 2nd best all breed kitten placings.
Diana seems like a seasoned pro now and got 7 finals which included a best all breed kitten!!
And little Prue made her first show extremely memorable. 14 finals in her 18 rings, including a Best Shorthair kitten in her very first ring of her very first show.
I thank all the judges who recognize and award these furry kids and help the kittens enjoy this crazy hobby I have. It’s wonderful to walk up and see a judge playing with, cuddling or even kissing a kitten which grew up in your home.
Right now I’m on the Cross Sound Ferry as my GPS sent me in the wrong direction off Long Island. But it’s warm, the cats are sleeping and I only have a bit over an hour to drive once we dock.
In the last 48 hours 3 of the Seinfeld litter have gone to their homes. I forced each owner to let me take a photo :)

V***n surprised me by being a couple of days early delivering this first litter with white kittens. All white kittens. SEVEN of them!!! It was a confusing litter - who knew which one was which even with collars on? NOT ME!!!

Last weekend we attended the Nauticats TICA cat show in conjunction with the Montreal SNAC pet expo at the Montreal Olympic Stadium. I always love this show - so many different judges, a great venue and lots of prospective kitten owners asking good questions. The show report is out and Walter was 2nd best alter for the entire weekend. It was a smaller class, but the competition was still strong. I don’t have many photos as I was clerking on Saturday and helping someone learn to clerk in Sunday. Each Finnland cat (whether kitten or adult) is a piece of my heart and soul. I breed because I love it and the felines, not of profit. Kittens are born in my bedroom and I see them and handle them every single day while they are here. Because of this, it matters where the cats end up.
1) I do not have an official interview process or a list of questions you need to answer. The perfect home for my cats is one that will love them and care for them to the best of their ability, with humans who are willing to learn, as there always is more to learn. I want to get to know prospective owners, and get to know their home and family members and what they are looking for in a cat. This can be done through conversations in email or over the internet, with exchanges of pictures, in a relaxed manner. I am a member of several cat-oriented groups on social media and easy to find there. I can also be found at some cat shows. You can check Our Events to see where you may be able to meet in person and talk with me.
Concerning general attitudes, here are a few points that are non-negotiable:
a) Cats have claws, and claws are a part of having cats. Declawing is a horrible mutilation that can cause significant behavioural problems, including biting and poor litter box habits. Finnland cats will come into your house knowing how to use scratching posts and tolerant of nail trimming, and I'm happy to recommend appropriate ways to keep those good habits up. I will not sell a cat to a household where declawing is considered an acceptable way of dealing with cat claws. I can also show you how to use Soft Paws in case there is a family member on blood thinners where a slight unintentional scratch could cause a trip to the ER.
b) Outdoor cats are bad for the environment and bad for the health of the cat. My kittens will all be acclimated to wearing a harness and going outside with supervision, and any of my adults are harness trained as well. My cats should remain indoor cats. Outside access can be allowed in a safe, secured area (such as a catio or outdoor enclosure which I have.. and the cats love) or with a human on harness and leash. I will not sell a cat to a household where allowing cats to roam freely outdoors is normal practice. There is a difference between opening the door and saying "go, be free" and rushing panicked after Fluffy as she wanders out to the steps.
c) Turkish Angoras are extremely social cats. Left alone for long periods of time without feline company they can develope unpleasant habits, may become aggressive, jealous or harassing to their humans. I will not give a kitten or an adult cat to live as an only cat forever.There are several other breeds less interactive and more tolerant of not particularly stimulating lifestyles. But if you want a Turkish Angora and do not have any other cats, why not take two at the same time? I started with one Turkish Angora (and 2 other cats in the home). I can attest to the fact that 2 Turkish Angoras are better than 1!!
2) Once together we have determined that you're a good fit for one of our cats and that one of my cats is a good fit for you, I will take a deposit towards the purchase you wish to make. A deposit means commitment. Kittens can be reserved starting at 6 weeks, however, we encourage people to express interest in a specific kitten sooner rather than later. If someone reserves a kitten, and fails to send a deposit within one week of the kitten having reached 40 days, the reservation will be lost. Once a kitten is reserved, they are no longer available - they are off the market for anyone else. If you decide later that kitten is not for you, the process has to start over again. Because of this deposits are in most cases non-refundable. If the kitten is quickly placed into a new home, the deposit could be applied to a future litter, depending upon the reason you cancelled. I do understand that life happens and situations change and you won't be penalized for a temporary inability to welcome a kitten into your home.
3) I encourage you to visit my home to meet your kitten after a good acquaintance has been established and a deposit has been put down. I do not allow visits to kittens younger than 8 weeks.
4) Your cat will come with a Pet Contract, binding for both parties. Please feel free to peruse the contract at your leisure, and if you have questions, feel free to ask.
AFTER HAVING THE CAT......
5) I try to breed the healthiest cats possible, but sometimes, unexpected congenital issues occur. Most frequently it becomes evident shortly after birth, but very occasionally these issues may manifest later in life. If this happens, if the cat is discovered to have a congenital/genetic life-threatening defect, please get in contact with me as soon as possible, and we will discuss how to move forward from there. I will want to know, for the health of my breeding programs -- and I will not 'replace' your kitten, as kittens are irreplaceable, but I may provide a new kitten free of charge or refund your full or partial purchase price.
6) I am here as a resource for you. I have a great deal of behavioural, health, and environmental knowledge on how best to live with cats and am happy to share that knowledge. Please email as soon as you have any concerns, or if you have any questions, and I will be glad to help.
7) I breed Turkish Angoras because I love this breed and want to share that love with others. I also acknowledge that there are many, many cats out there needing homes, and I never want one of our cats to end up in that situation. Every cat that leaves my home, kitten or adult, still has a home with me for life. I will take back any one of my cats, no questions asked, in any situation or any condition at any point in their entire life. Just ask, and I will be there.

SPECIFICALLY ABOUT KITTENS......
1) My litters are planned first and foremost to produce kittens as close as possible to my ideal Turkish Angora standard, from whom I will choose my next breeding and show cats. Because I work in cooperation with a couple of other catteries, kittens could often be spoken for before they are born in order to continue the good lines and enrich the breed as we all work to one goal. Once I have determined who is pet quality and who is show/breeding quality, I will attempt to match the right kitten to the right household. If you have a specific s*x or colour request, please say so, but keep in mind that I can make no promises that a kitten of that variety will be born or will be appropriate for your house.
2) Kittens will be sent to their new homes at 13 weeks of age. It is not possible to let them leave earlier as they need 2 sets of vaccines before they go - they buyer will be responsible for the 16 week vaccinations, however if they stay around up to 16 weeks, the cattery will have them vaccinated. Their kitten kit includes a free trial of pet insurance, food samples and coupons for the high quality food they are eating, toys, and a kitten manual to help them adjust to their new homes. If you require a health certificate for the kitten that can be included.
3) All of my cats come CFA registered. If you are looking to show or breed in a different association, please contact me and we'll make sure you have all the right paperwork to get your new kitten registered in the registry of your choice.
4) By contract, all pet kittens must be spayed or neutered before they leave here. The buyer is responsible for the actual cost of the neuter or spay, which also happens before departure - I get a breeder discount at the vet so that price is reduced dramatically.
5) I love showing, and I love cat shows. If I think your new kitten has the potential to be a show alter, I will pay for you to enter your first show and attend with you if at all possible. Maybe, just maybe, you'll fall in love with showing too!
6) Delivery to Ontario and Quebec may be possible as I travel often for cat shows. Shipping is available at your own expense and may come with additional requirements for health documents, especially if borders have to be crossed. I have experience in shipping pet animals. Please feel free to contact me if you think Finnland is the right cattery for you, even if you aren't local.
SPECIFICALLY FOR BREEDERS......
1) Every one of us had to start somewhere and have been a new breeder once. The cat fancy thrives on new blood. If you are a new breeder who is looking for a breeding cat, I'd love to talk with you and see if our philosophies match. Someone took a chance on me. You deserve the same consideration.
2) As concerns breeding cats, I'm looking to work with people who fulfil all of the requirements of the pet owners, as well as demonstrate ethical breeding practices. Cats will be given to breeders whom we feel we can trust, who have a registered cattery, preferably who also show in a cat association, and whose breeding practices meet or exceed our standards.
3) If you are a breeder, old or new, who finds my lines interesting, please get in touch with me, tell us about yourself, tell me what you're looking for, and let's see what we can arrange.
4) My Breeder contract differs only marginally from our Pet Contract, mainly in the specific agreements we'll stipulate with the individual breeder about the individual cat.
