This boy made some big strides! One of our big projects was getting him to happily load into the car. Oscar doesn’t have to make many trips off the property but his fabulous people wanted to make it a comfortable experience for him when he did.
On our first session, we opened the car and Oscar left the area. Up until now loading in the car had been a struggle.
On our fourth session, Oscar easily loaded into the vehicle waiting for his favourite treat (ham 😋) to appear.
We used some creativity, teaching him the different skills he would need. Teaching him to jump onto other objects, jumping on the atv, and broke this big task into pieces.
Brick by brick his confidence grew❤️

Echo was not sure what to make of the river. She was curious but cautious. Echo is such a cool girl. She wanted to stay until she had made up her mind about it and then we moved on to another area of the bank. She very carefully dipped her front feet in, continuing to investigate with that big nose of hers and slowly her back feet went in as well.
Well I think it’s safe to say she is a fan of the river now! Even after she scared herself on her first swimming attempt she went back in to rescue her stick.
Such a resilient girl who loves to problem solve!

The end goal is wrapping himself in a blanket. First we worked on holding a something and performing another behaviour at the same time. Next session we will warm up with this stage and then switch the toy out for a blanket.

Betty and I popped in to Petsmart today for some training and exposure.
Anytime I enter a new environment I always pick our strongest behaviours to work on. I’m also prepared to relax my criteria.
Betty quickly remembered her ‘bed’ behaviour and it was a great confidence builder in an environment with all sorts of new distractions.
