Meet beautiful boy Bruno! ❤️
This big, handsome bundle of love has been awaiting his perfect match for 67 days and it's about time someone takes this lovebug home! Bruno is a partially deaf, rollie-pollie sweetheart who loves people. He has a very unique way of expressing his excitement for walks and attention... he smiles! Beautiful Bruno has amazing leash manners, a very gentle disposition and enough love to share with all that he encounters. He would be best suited in a home where he can get daily snuggles and spend lots of quality time with his new family. This kind-hearted gentleman is a little on the chunky side so would also benefit from a nice, liesurely walk each day. He really is the most lovely lad you'll ever meet!

Protect your pet from ticks and fleas!
Warning: creepy crawlies! 👀
Ticks and fleas are highly resourceful, often making their way into a home by hitching a ride on another pet or person. It's a great practice to treat any dog or cat – including indoor only kitties – with a flea and tick preventive. 🐞 We actually removed this engorged tick from a cat!
You can protect your pet and your pocket by taking advantage of our special parasite prevention promotion this month. 🐾 Book your appointment with the Cape Breton SPCA Veterinary Hospital today!

People let us tell you 'bout our beeeest friends! We wanted to kick of Sunday Fun-day with the story of Baker and Sasha! ❤️
Baker and Sasha both came to the Cape Breton shelter separately and each spent quite a while in shelter. One day, one of the staff thought they might enjoy having a little play date and oh boy, did they love it!
They had play dates frequently and were quickly becoming the best of friends! If you know anything about Great Pyrenees, you know they are a strong-willed breed with some unique needs. They need a ton of exercise, training and typically need a job to do. Never in our wildest dreams did we expect them to find a home together but... they DID! These two best friends came to us as individuals but left as siblings and we couldn't be more ecstatic for them! You can see it in their faces how much they adore eachother and how excited they were to be going home together! They were even holding paws during their adoption.
They are now living their very best lives in a home with a huge fenced in property with acres to run and play on! When they aren't outside having a blast together, they're cuddled up with their new dog-dad getting double cuddles and feeling all the love they both have been needing! Thank you Cory for keeping these two together, one big happy family! ❤️
Good luck, Kai!
When pets get adopted, we don’t say goodbye. We wish them good luck! 🥰 That’s because our biggest goal is to watch pets prance out with new families.
Every dog struts out of the shelter differently. 🐾 For Kai, one of the pups and dogs rescued from the wildfires in the Northwest Territories, her farewell included a nod to our staff and volunteers. 🐶 It felt as if she was saying thank you to our amazing animal loving community.
It will continue to take time for the pups and dogs to decompress. But we hope to say “good luck” to all the NWT dogs soon. 💙
Cheers to new beginnings! 🎉
* Update - Hank has found his furrever home <3 !
Meet Hank! ❤️

Meet Fella! ❤️
This beautiful boy has been with us for 51 days and just look at how fun he is! Fella is a very sweet and loveable pup who loves to play! Fella is a big boy already but still has some growing to do so is looking for a home with someone who has experience with large breed dogs. Fella is still just a puppy at only 11 months old so he will require some training to work on his manners. He is a very active, silly guy who would benefit from daily walks and/or runs with his new paw-rents! This handsome lad is looking for a home with someone loving, committed and adventurous to spend his time with! He's just such a loveable goofball!
We thought a video like this would be a great way to show off Fella's size, playstyle and energy level! And of course, to help you fall in love with him!

Meet Sassy! ❤️
This absolutely wonderful lady has been with us for 81 days! Sassy is big sweetie, she loves attention and affection. She snorts like a pig all the time which has earned her the nickname "Miss Piggy" and it suits her quite well. She has recently become more active, thoroughly enjoying her zoomies around the yard and LOVING her walks! She has also started to enjoy playing with toys though she would much rather just have some nice stuffies to cuddle in her bed! Sassy is looking for a home with someone loving who will keep her active with a daily walk or a daily zoomies session if she has a fenced in backyard to roam around in. Looking for a borderline couch potato to keep you entertained and give you so much love? Sassy may just be the girl for you!
