Certain dogs have that something extra...

For the past 10 years Zoe greeted me with enthusiasm and a signature (woo-woo) hello that came only after she'd circled the bus at least once.

She had the typical Husky energy as a pup, but grew to be a calm-assertive matriarch curbing the younger dogs enthusiasm when necessary.

Her eyesight had failed in recent years, but we learned to communicate through sound. I'm always amazed at how adaptive animals can be. She was a little more careful with her steps, but her enthusiasm never wavered.

This past Tuesday was our final day together. Selfishly, I wanted one last picture with her. She obliged by not sitting still and licking my face.

You can always tell how long a dog has been on the bus and how well they're loved by the number of nicknames they acquire. He answered to "Marvarino" "Marvamatic" "Marvinthal" and "Marvinator" equally as well as Marv or his real name Marvin.

We've had to say goodbye to a real gem and senior member of the Happy Bus gang. Marvin was a true veteran at 11 or maybe even 12 years on the bus. These last few years he'd lost a little of his spring, but not his eagerness to be part of the group.

A great guy who will be missed by his family, and his Happy Bus family.

Billy was the Forrest Gump, and shrimp boat captain of the Happy Bus for 11 years. He retired to peanut butter kongs and travelling with his owners a couple of years ago, but I learned yesterday he has now moved on further.

They're all individuals, and that makes each one my favourite in some way. Billy you will be missed, but never forgotten.
