Frosty. But, you know what? -37 with NO wind is not bad. I’d take it over -20 with a 25kmh wind any day. I was outside for hours today, and as long as you dress for it and stay busy it’s all good.

An excellent opportunity for someone interested in urban farming in Moose Jaw! Wakamow Valley Auth. comes out to the ranch twice a year to get horse manure for fertilizer. There’s nothing better.

They grow approx. 16K lbs of fresh food each year that goes to various shelters and charities in town. They’re wonderful people that help feed so many in need💚🥒🥬🥕🥦🌽🫛

And that’s all it is.
Less is more. A horse is not going to respond to the same stimuli as people. You have to go beyond the audible and visible. It’s a gentle, fine line of nuance and emotion. And you need to be openly receptive to it.

When a former federal cabinet minister, who by the way was the FIRST EVER female cabinet minister from the province of Saskatchewan (in Stephen Harper’s Conservative govt.) endorses you with such kind words it feels pretty nice.

On Christmas Eve, this lovely mare departed our realm. She wasn’t here very long but in that time had us totally captured.
She will have a forever home here at the ranch, as well as in our hearts🤎

Our Story

In 2015 we started boarding our first horse, April. She had been neglected for quite some time and was borderline wild, even had been attacked by a cougar shortly before coming to us from northern Alberta. Her good-hearted owner thankfully took her out of that environment and brought her to Moose Jaw for a short period, then out to us. We worked with her and calmed her, gaining her trust as we went. About six months later we had the option to buy her, which we did in an instant. We were totally in love with her by that point. And today she is a very relaxed, gentle, and happy soul. Ever since we have provided care for, and worked with others’ horses, with our objective being gentleness, compassion, and seeing these lovely animals free in nature as we believe they should be. They run free as a herd in our pasture, and there is simply a no more beautiful sight.
