We just attended a wonderful AAEP session "Assessment of Biosecurity for the Equine Infectious Diseases in Veterinary Practice," session led by the legend in this field, Nathaniel A. White. He founded and is now director of the Equine Disease Communication Center, which does amazing work.
A key takeaway is us owners not grasping the risks involved when a new horse comes on the property and when we take our horses to an event.
Isolating new arrivals, preventing co-mingling of horses at events and temperature monitoring are key.
Effective disinfecting is another best biosecurity practice and we're proud to offer Thymox Botanical Disinfectant to make this easy for everybody - from individual horse owner to boarding and clinic facility staff. It kills 99% of viruses and bacteria, yet is safe, non-toxic and non-corrosive.
