"Doggy mukbang"?? 😆😳

It's funny how these both highlight my hopes for our feed and my fears for what people experience when showing up to our social media spaces.

My hope is that you see our feed as a place to come and explore new ways of thinking and feeding your pups. It's a place of nuanced conversation, information based on facts, and where you are encouraged to feed the dog in front of you.

My fear is that things are too sales-y (even though this is a business account 😂) and that everything is black and white - no room for nuance.

Do you offer bananas to your dogs? I do on occasion and my pups love them! They will often stare me down when I enjoy one myself, hoping for a bite. 🤣

Bananas are rich in sugar and starch, so moderation & timing is key!

Overfeeding can cause digestive upset like diarrhea or constipation.

Dogs prone to yeast infections should stay away from foods high in starch & sugar during their healing process.

BANANA BENEFITS:

Rich in potassium and B6 which can help regulate blood sugar levels

Supports bone strength & growth

Source of fiber which supports digestion and can help with weight management

Rich in disease fighting antioxidants

SERVING SUGGESTIONS:

Serve medium to large dogs half of a normal-sized banana.

Serve small or toy breeds 1/4 of a banana

TIMING MATTERS:

Green = underripe, high in fiber, rich in prebiotics, low in sugar

Light Green = slightly ripe, high in fiber, low in sugar

Yellow = sugar rising, fiber content

Yellow with some dark spots = very ripe, low fibre, high sugar

Dark Spots = overripe, high sugar, low fiber

Go ahead and add a little to your dog's next meal or as a little snack during the day!

When Grand Dog started 6 years ago, I never would have believed you if you told me that much of my time would be dedicated to helping people getting their dogs to eat.

The number one question we get in our inbox is "why is my dog refusing their food?". It's a daily occurrence in all the Facebook groups I follow. Kibble or raw - it doesn't matter. It happens to everyone no matter what food they choose to feed.

Many people are at a loss when it happens to them and don't know how to approach it. If you've been following along over the years, you know that I try to share the different reasons so people feel supported in their journey. The truth is: there is no one true answer. Every dog is unique. Every situation is unique.

That's where Christine comes in. As a Dog Trainer, she brings unique insight in food refusal and the psychology behind it.

We have known Doug for a while! Matt met him when they started working together at United Cycle almost 20 years ago! 🤯

Doug and Matt share a love of bikes and go out together weekly for fun and fellowship on the Edmonton bike trails.

Doug is also a talented photographer and has taken some product shots for us over the years.
