Our kittens we pulled from our TNR project are growing! They are about 7 weeks old now but the sz of about 5 week olds. So, lots of pate and kmr( kitten formula) to get that weight on them. They are doing well, and getting some much needed socialization. Little Sally and Lucy are the friendliest and just love people! Where Linus is a little spitfire and a little leary of people yet. He gets a bit better everyday though.

🐱 Introducing Dauphin’s Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Program for Community Cats 🐾

The City of Dauphin is launching a humane, effective new initiative to help manage the stray and feral cat population in our community – it's called Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR).

Here’s how it works:
✅ Unowned, free-roaming cats are humanely trapped
✅ They are sterilized (spayed/neutered), vaccinated, and ear-tipped (a small notch on one ear indicates they've been fixed)
✅ Then, they are returned to the area they came from, where they live out their lives without continuing to reproduce

📍 Why TNR?
• It reduces the number of stray and feral cats over time
• It prevents kittens from being born into difficult outdoor conditions
• It improves the health and stability of outdoor cat populations
• It’s more effective and humane than removal or euthanasia

🏠 Important reminder:
The City's Animal Services Bylaw does not allow owned cats to roam at large. If you have a pet cat, please keep it indoors or in a safe outdoor enclosure.

👀 See a cat with a notched ear?
That means it’s part of the TNR program – it’s been sterilized and doesn’t need to be trapped again.

💛 Want to help?
If you’re interested in becoming a community cat colony caretaker, or learning more about how to support this program, contact City Animal Services at 204-648-3593 or [email protected].

Special thanks to the Uptown Pet Clinic for partnering with the City of Dauphin to make this important initiative possible.

Our BOY is here! He made it into rescue yesterday morning. His body shows signs of neglect. He is thin, fur looks terrible and an infected eye. He has the thick tom cat face and believe he is about 2-3 years old. His Stub tail we aren’t sure yet if he was born with it or not. He is sooo LOVEABLE though!
And seems to get along well with other cats.
His foster has named him Mystique..
Watch for this fellas transformation in the coming weeks!:)

Our Story

Cats TNR & Rescue was founded by Linda Desjardins(Animal Advocate) & Chantel Boersma (Vet Assistant/Animal Lover) in early 2012.

It all started with a colony of cats living at a local dump. They were living in a pile of tires scrounging garbage and scraps that kind people would bring. A Go Fund Me Page was set up and when enough money was raised some were trapped and spayed and neutered. Feed was provided and the goal was to fix the whole colony to stop breeding. Eventually a building was provided for them .

We applied for and received charity status in October of 2013 and our efforts expanded to rescuing fostering and adopting out strays. This year alone we adopted out 85 cats and did tnr on an additional 65 cats. Some were able to be adopted out or barn homes were found for them and some were returned.

We try to help the cats at the local dumps because they live in appalling conditions and are in constant danger from heavy equipment or shredding machines . Not much shelter is available at these landfills . We rescue cats from all the areas around Neepawa if we have room and resources.
