Yes the temperatures may be cooling but the ticks are still biting! They are especially active as the temperatures start to drop. Make sure to keep up with your pets flea and tick prevention! I pull this one off a client’s dog today!

I've been enjoying getting to explore some of the parks and trails in the Ottawa with my dog C.J but I definitely can't wait to get home and see all of your pups and critters! I, Lisa, will be back doing walks and visits starting Monday September 30th, 2024 but please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly regarding bookings. Hello everyone! We wanted to inform everyone that Lisa will be out of town for a live-in booking from September 13th to September 30th, 2024 and will be unavailable for bookings. No further live in services will be scheduled for while Lisa is away however, a limited amount of check in and/or dog walking bookings will be available during this time. If you are anticipating a need for services during these dates please send in your request as soon as possible as we will not be accepting any further requests as of September 5th, 2024.

We have been notified of a possible blue-green algal bloom in Lake Nipissing along the waterfront of the City of North Bay. This notification comes following previous confirmation by the North Bay District of the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks of a blue-green algal bloom in Lake Nipissing, in Callander Bay on July 25. Some types of blue-green algae can produce toxins. Hello everyone! It's that time of the year again.

Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for our region for the next few days. Temperatures are going going to be 26c to 31c but feel like 29c to 39c. For our walkers' safety as well as the safety of the pets in our care ALL walks will be shortened. If you wish to cancel your dog's walk due to the heat please reach out to Lisa. There will be no cancellation fee for walks canceled due to the heat.
Stay hydrated and cool and remember, never leave your pet unattended in a car in the summer.

Also, since we've had a few people ask, we will be operating as normal, while remaining extra aware of people who may be driving while distracted. Hello friends!

The total solar eclipse is just around the corner, and just about everyone is ready to see the once in a lifetime event. We are seeing some mixed information about pet/wildlife safety.

Contrary to what some may read, the sun itself is not any more dangerous during the eclipse. The reason protective eye wear is recommended for humans (who wish to observe the eclipse) is because many of us will be staring directly at the sun that day, which is something we typically avoid.

For our pets, and outdoor wildlife, that day will be similar to any other day. Our pets don’t stare at the sun, so there is no need to keep them indoors on April 08 for any extended period of time. They may notice the change in temperature, but it is unlikely they will exhibit any unusual behaviour.

The eclipse can be more unsettling for birds. The dimming of the sky can mimic behaviour at dusk and during early storm formation, so some birds may demonstrate a wind-down behaviour and there may be less activity in the sky during the peak eclipse. Once the sky returns to normal, so does their behaviour.

Since we are now 2 weeks out I figured I should give a reminder that I, Lisa, will be away on vacation from April 11th to April 22nd, 2024. If you are anticipating needing dog walking or cat check in services during these dates please send in your requests ASAP as we will not be accepting anymore requests after April 5th, 2024 until after I'm back. Hello everyone! I wanted to gauge interest and see if anyone is interested in purchasing a 2024 calendar featuring some of our furry friends from the past year. Calendars would be $30 each with $5 from each sale going to a local animal rescue. I would need at least 5 people interested before I can put an order in. Hoping to put in an order by Sunday, Jan 28th, 2024, and calendars would be here by mid February. If you're not in North Bay or surrounding areas you would have to pay extra for shipping. If we have enough interest we can do this again for a 2025 calendar. If interested please send me a text or message me here.
