Congratulations to Doug & Daisy for their new custom catio with plenty of perch planks for lazing on… watching the birds go by, feeling the breeze in their fur!!!!
Luck was on their side when their super-special mama adopted together from the Humane Society, they really needed a home, together. It is super special that it was made possible for this bonded pair now have a fabulous life forever together. These ginger beauties are super happy to have their living space now extended to the great outdoors!!!!
This catio was custom fitted into a narrow (17” deep) spot, as it was the ideal spot. The basement window well was utilized/fitted with a cat flap door for the in/out passage to and from the house, as well as ‘squeezed’ in on the pea gravel base, tucked in just inside of where the cement walkway had been poured. Despite its narrow depth, it was built is 8ft tall, almost 5 ft wide, and was fitted with over 14 feet of perch planking that Doug & Daisy can laze on as well as utilized as ‘stairs’ to access the perch planks all the way to the top! The side is being fitted with a 7” x 6ft emergency access door. The corner ‘reveal’ posts, support posts and accessories were all stained in the Cordovan Brown to suit their mama’s outdoor living space!

Congratulations to Harley & Marley on their new catio!!! 24/7…To whether their humans are home or not, sleeping or not, they can be rest assured that their furrbabies are safe and protected in their new outdoor fun space!
Tucked beside the fish pond, feet away from the fabulous family pool, back patio, and grandkid play area! Harley & Marley can now be apart of the outdoor family fun! Mama has placed planters containing wheat grass and other cat munching-friendly plants.
This catio was done with grey reveal posts and support posts, galvanized 16 gauge welded wire mesh, with Antique Oak accessories. Custom fitted under existing soffit, facia and eaves. Plenty of perch planks, walking planks, sisal post with round jump step, angled walking planks with cleats, angled carpet climber, stairs to assure hours of fun and lazing poolside or being able to keep an eye on the family and see what’s going on inside as well!

Welcoming Frankie and Grace back to Sarnia and CONGRATULATIONS on your new catio!!!

Both kitties were adopted from Cat Chance during COVID and moved to London with their new mama. They recently moved back to Sarnia as their human wanted to retire near the water. Not yet fully unpacked and house renos not yet completed but the Catio is done! I immediately loved their mama as when I said 'subordinate human' she immediately broke into laughter.

This nifty catio utilizes ½ of the front porch, leaving plenty of space for the humans on the other half! Plenty of perch planks and accessories to laze and watch the world go by, safely!

We use only hand-picked, raw, kiln dried 100% Canadian Hardwood – no supports less than 2” x 4”! Our ‘Reveal’ corner columns are true 4” x 4” sourced right from the wood mill - Kitchener Forest Products or supplier - Watson Timber Mart, Courtright! then ripped down and sanded!
I never ever thought I would ever say such a thing as ‘Those are some mighty fine looking 4x4’s'– but I do now! …lol!

Each piece of wood to whether it for the supports ports, 'reveal'columns or interior accessories are then given 2 healthy coats of one of our animal & environmentally friendly, long-lasting, exterior water based stain – all available in eight choices of stain for streamline colour palette matching to your outside décor and living space!

All corners for interior accessories are rounded out to ensure everyone’s safety!

Hi honey –
As you know, I am very fond of cats and dogs, and sincerely appreciate the Humane Society for their caring ways. I had stopped at Pet Valu as I learned that they sometimes had Humane Society cats shown there. I was not ready to get a cat, but was always ‘just looking’.
It was love at 1st sight for me. Willow, not so much. Very scared, hid for the 1st month or more, suspicious, and even today, does not like to be picked up. But she is a wonderful, affectionate, playful companion to me. Willow (whose name was Adele when I got her) was thought to be about 2 yrs old on Sept 6, 2020, (during COVID) when she was brought in as a stray. The H.S. decided that would be her birthday. I adopted her Oct 20, 2020, so she will be 6 in Sept. She has liked the catio since you first built it. Willow spends an hour or more, 2 or 3 times a day, in it. She has a fresh bowl of water in there daily, which she drinks from a lot. Probably more so than the other 2 bowls in my apt. She also gets the zoomies several times daily and hits her cat tree, which is the perfect height, and steps into the catio at a high rate of speed; jumps out, heads to the bedroom, and zooms back to the catio. Very entertaining!

This nifty window mount catio works on Willow’s balcony just perfect! We were given the paint code from the superintendent and painted this catio her apartment building colours. No cat flap door required. You control your cat’s access to the catio by simply opening and closing the window. The catio is fit with black pet-screen to assure no bugs get into your apartment. From the inside, looks great! And looks just FAB on mom’s balcony as well as blends in seamlessly with the building from ground view. The interior is fit with beige indoor/outdoor carpet, with Antique Oak accessories!

Hi, what are you up to? (it’s about 7 pm).

I’m in the middle of a field in Moore Township, trying to trap a mama and her kittens, have been here since about 11 am, I will have to go soon though and check back tomorrow morning. I have to go feed the colony up by Sarnia Bay, they will be expecting their dinner shortly (much of it at her own expense).

She has been doing this 5 – 7 days a week for over 15 years! Wow!!! Conservative estimate: 300+ trapped, fostered and rehomed over 100+!!!…the ones that are truly feral, are spayed or neutered and released back to their colony. TNR – Trap, Neuter, Release.

Lugging several different sizes of traps, cat carriers, trail cam’s, food (tuna, sardines, chicken), catnip, love and compassion…this human has spent 1800+ hours (conservative estimate), rain, snow storms, sweltering heat, trapping feral cats, mama’s and their kittens, socializing them into little purr bags so they can be adopted into a loving family to live out the life every king and queen kitty should have.

She fails to mention that she has taken 11 cats to the vet and back this week, takes care of two other colonies in the middle of no where and currently has two mama’s and 8 kittens at her house that she is currently caring for….a warm, dry, secure, food and safe place to sleep.

Look at these two babies she says, three weeks ago they would not come out of hiding.

THIS IS ONE VERY SPECIAL AND DEDICATED HUMAN!!! I have sought her advice soooooooo many times on issues with my own adoptions of previously trapped ferals…whom now are all purring machines, and I will always THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! 💖💕❤

So CONGRATULATIONS to Spooky, Raven, Smurf and Raja and current fosters, Pepper, Fiona and Katrina on their new custom catio, enabling them to get back outside, but this time it is SAFE!!! ❤

This catio is done in a white (animal and environmentally safe stain), with black PVC coated 1” x 1” mesh, black hardware, fitted with white perch shelves (fitted so that all can be viewed/monitored from the inside of the house) and grey carpet climber!

Congratulations to Bailey, Annaboo, and Juniper for being the HAPPIEST CATS ON THE BLOCK!!!
These furr babies of Strathroy have their new custom outdoor, protected space!!!
In the backyard, the humans have a partially covered cement deck. We extended the roof over to the side of the house, fitting the edge with eaves trough and a downspout as to not have rain water run down the brick wall to their foundation.
The corner posts were done in black, to blend in with the support posts of the existing deck roof, with white support panels to tie in with the existing house trim. Black galvanized welded wire mesh and black hardware. To tie in seamlessly with the brick of the house, the accessories and support brackets were done in a walnut pet and environmentally friendly stain. Bailey, Annaboo, and Juniper are sure to do some major relaxing outside on their new perch planks and hammock.
It turned out beautiful!!! Filling their human’s unused empty space with a fun and functional conversation piece that is sure making these furr babies purrrrrrrr, purrrrrrrr, purrrrrrrr!!!

We made and distributed over 50 winter feral survival totes last
fall, donating them to every TNR group or any individual who
thought they had a stray around with no home, and obviously
welcome to be used by any smaller wild animal, trying not to
die in the winter’. I said this proudly to Peggy Jenkins, founder
of Heaven's Wildlife Rescue Rehabilitation & Education Centre, in Oil Springs, Ontario. She said that was great, but they are no good.

10 seconds of silence followed. I am thinking…’over $1000 and
at least 70 – 100 hrs to make these, and THEY ARE WHAT?’ (I
am a lousy poker player and I am sure my thoughts were
literally being watermarked on my face…)

‘No good for outside at all’ she said.

Peggy went on to explain that while us and almost every other
builder of ‘Styrofoam/tote or cooler/straw based survival totes,
may get the warm and fuzzies from making and distributing
these, but the ferals and other wild life will only be able to
experience this same feeling for a very short period of time in
the units that we have built.

Why?

When there are short periods of time in the winter, when it
warms up a wee bit between freezing periods and the sunlight
beats on the tote or cooler and the animal breathing inside the
totes …it will sweat, they sweat to the degree that
condensation develops on the inside mostly the top of the totes
and drips onto the straw or blankets making the situation
worse for the animal inside. It could also develop mold when
the fresh straw gets saturated. They really are not good at all
for winter weather. I know this first hand she said when she
made a few for raccoons that were overwintering in outside
enclosures and noticed the condensation dripping inside onto
the raccoons!

This is what you should make. She brings me to a
simple wood box made with plywood, with an access hole and
some straw….essentially a big bird house. Peggy went on to
explain that it MUST breathe as fall changes to winter and
winter changes to spring, through rains, through freezing and
thaw periods…if it get wet inside at all, coolers and totes
cannot dry out, wood will, and as a further benefit to wildlife
and to us all, the unit will eventually go back to the earth as if it
never existed at all.

So, this year when my husband and I make, and distribute our
‘winter survival totes, they will no longer be made from plastic,
but with thick plywood and barnboard, treated with a water-
based animal and environmentally friendly stain. Breathable,
effective, will withstand the test of time and elements…

that’s better…

I walk up the driveway, noticing that the gardens are all a wonderland of perennials with various metal, ceramic, painted wood and sculptures meticulously placed through out, most are of….yes, cats…and am immediately impressed. I ring the doorbell, an eruption of barking ensued from the other side of the door…and I am here for a custom catio…I’m doomed, they're probably going to ask me about a dog kennel…hmmmm…

When she answered the door with a herd of small white dogs barking in-toe, I was welcomed in. I see a cat cage, with a beautiful cat in it overlooking the back garden by the bay window, the cage is partially covered. This is one of my fosters she says. She notions to the barkers...who are still barking…those are all my dogs, not fosters, they were saved from a puppy mill, abused as breeders, poor baby’s she says. The rest of the cats I foster, have my basement as their home, and my cats and my foster dogs have the main floor, but if everyone happens to get along, all the inside doors get opened, if not, a few get closed.

I knew I had just met a very special person. She is a foster for Cat Chance. This is a WONDERFUL local cat rescue of which I know well as my darling Zeus was trapped out of a colony that lived in a local cemetery prior to us giving Zeus his forever home.

She takes me outside and shows me where she wants her catio (whew!). She says she wants catio to have her entrance to it from a back door off her back sunroom. It is to be approx. 20 ft long, stretching all the way across to her driveway, with three totally separate cat passages from the house, with the unit divided in to two, with a man door to the second half from the first half.

OMG – maybe a dog kennel isn’t such a bad idea. This was my first residential appointment for Catio Canada after launching at the Sarnia Homeshow 2024.

The first half to be fitted with a cat flap door for the fosters that rule her basement, to be able to come out of the basement window, with perches at her kitchen window so she can see them chillaxing in their new outdoor space. The other side is for her own cats, she just wants to take off the screens in her dining room and make it a true extension of their living space. One of her fosters had three legs, so we know that any accessory that requires jumping, is out, not a problem! It is likely that a kitty missing a limb or two will find a home here in the future, bridging her or him to their forever home too!

So CONGRATULATIONS to Katie, Ziggy, Susie, Jitters, William and Bailey and to her fosters Brandi, Ebony, Frankie, Ginger, Halle and her two kittens Tawny & Penny for BEING THE HAPPIEST CATS ON THE BLOCK!!!

This is what we came up with for this crew!

This enclosure encompasses a 4ft x 20ft deck with White for the 4in x 4in REVEAL POSTS, and SUPPORT PANELS with Grey ANTI-TEAR PET SCREENING, dually lined with 1” x 1” 16 GAUGE WELDED WIRE MESH for added protection from any passerby coyotes. The interior accessories were done in Cordovan Brown, water based, pet and environmentally friendly stain.

The enclosure is divided into two parts, one for the fosters and one for her own, or if everybody happens to get along, then one big outdoor playground for all!

Each unit was fitted with a lots of accessories to give the gang over 15 ft of high level PERCH PLANKS with a plethora of ways to get in and out, and up and down for all!

The basement window was fitted with an 8ft ANGLED WALKING PLANK w/CLEATS with gradual slope so any kitties that are not four legged will never have a problem getting in or out.

This is not the last time I will be visiting this AWESOME human!!! I have to see her stunning perennial gardens in the various stages of their ever changing magnificent tapestry of Mother Nature’s flower power!

This human is a ‘TOP FOSTER’ in our books! She and her organization are amazing and spend countless hours trying to battle the very sad and terrible situation we have with the out-of-control feral population in our area!

Congratulations to ‘Dude’ (a hearty LOL when his human told me his name) for being THE HAPPIEST CAT ON THE BLOCK!!!

Dude now has his own custom catio so his mamma can keep baking her absolutely scrumptious cupcakes while he is outdoors lounging in his new extension of his living space…safely!!!!

This human is better known as The Cupcake Lady Sarnia. She amazes me every time I see her posts of her absolutely delicious and beautiful cupcake creations!!!

The Cupcake Lady frequently holds fundraisers for local TNR groups, including Caregivers of Petrolia Ferals, Official Sarnia & District Humane Society and Lambton Cat Rescue
🐾 auctioning off her stunning creations and donating all the proceeds. Her time, talent and cost for all the ingredients…FREE!!! She is one amazing human!!!

Dude now has a awesome place to hang outdoors, feel the breeze in his fur and maybe eat a few bugs while not worrying about harm from passerby wildlife or interfering with any passerby wild life!

His catio has been custom colour palleted with white ‘reveal’ posts with white support panels with 16-gauge galvanized (grey/silver) welded wire mesh and grey/galvanized hardware. The interior accessories have been done in Antique Oak. It was decided that Dude would be very happy with his ANGLED WALKING PLANK WITH CLEATS, giving him a pathway to his PERCH PLANKS…we will be adding more accessories if Dude gives his amazing human the ‘go ahead’ wink!

🐾! These are very lucky kitties, to be cared for and socialized by this fabulous crew of volunteers, to be adopted to into a family, to live out their best lives!

This human is a ‘TOP FOSTER’ in our books! She and her organization are amazing and spend countless hours trying to battle the very sad and terrible situation we have with the out-of-control feral population in our area!

We are recognizing this human with our ‘TOP FOSTER’ status, with kitten size accessories from Catio Canada for FREE! History says that this human is more than likely always be fostering momma’s and babies, we are sure they will be well used for years to come!

This TOP FOSTER chose Antique Oak for exterior posts and support panels and all accessories, Black PVC 16 gauge steel for meshing, and hardware. I had not seen this custom palette mix chosen yet, and was quite eager to see its outcome!

And it is stunning! Just love the natural wood for all components! A three-sided structure with a gable roof…looks like they were built to be beside each other….oh wait…they were! (shed by others)

Congratulations to Harley & Wyatt being the happiest cats on the block with the installation of their new Catio Canada catio!
This is the ground enclosure display that we had built for the Sarnia Homeshow 2024. Their humans knew it would fit their spot perfectly! A bit of further customization was completed by adding a back wall and a tunnel for their passage from a window to their new, protected, outdoor playground!

This enclosure is a 6' x 6', done with White exterior, Black welded wire mesh, with a splash of bling with the silver hardware. Black screening for passage at house. Antique Oak accessories with Charcoal grey carpet for Climbing posts and Step posts.
Looks AWESOME!!!Harley & Wyatt just LOVIN' IT!!!
