"My mom often describes the first time I saw a dog as a toddler and how I pretty much had heart-eyes. Since that moment, dogs have held a special place in my heart. I basically had the big book of dog breeds on permanent loan from the library. We had a retriever-mix named Lexie growing up and I still think of her any time I play fetch with a dog. While I don’t currently have my own dog, I live with my brother’s family and get to vicariously have a pet with their rescue Garth, who has been my current walk buddy. Getting to be outside AND around dogs is the best thing my mental health could ask for!"
