🏆 Calling all Young Event Horse Competitors 🏆

Are you and your 4- or 5-year-old Young Event Horse (YEH) planning to compete at The Dutta Corp. USEA YEH Championships at the Maryland 5 Star or Twin Rivers Ranch this fall? We want to hear from YOU! We are now accepting story submissions for a new series that highlights horse and rider pairs who are aiming to compete at the YEH Championships and the dedication it takes to prepare a young horse for this kind of challenge.

Story submissions should be 800-1500 words in length and should be accompanied with 2-3 photos (please include photographer credit if taken by a professional photographer) for posting on USEventing.com. Please email stories and photos to [email protected] for consideration. The USEA looks forward to cataloguing several competitors' journeys as they prepare their young horses for glory at this year's events!

Morning Mantra: “Stop expecting and start accepting."

One of the most difficult things for me is to not be disappointed when things don’t turn out like I had planned. But the secret to happiness is letting go of what you assume your life is supposed to be like right now, and sincerely appreciating it for everything that it is.

You can still strive for the things you desire in life, but you must find things to be able to appreciate NOW while you work towards your goals. It sets you up for a positive journey forward.

At the end of the day, before you close your eyes, smile, and be at peace with where you’ve been, and grateful for what you have.

2024 has been a year of change at the Flying Horse studio. While it might be a little delayed, we would like to introduce you to our newest little Flying Horse Nora.

Emily and her husband Evan welcomed this sweet little girl into the world on January 22nd and are absolutely smitten.

While we miss Emily terribly, we are so excited for her to start this journey of motherhood.

I am a true believer in building a family within my team. Flying Horse Design Studio was built on the foundation of creating amazing relationships and a healthy place to work and there is a lot of love in our little office.

In the coming weeks, we will be introducing our new team members so that you can get to know the faces behind the emails. Stay tuned!

𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐢𝐬-𝐣𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐥 ? 🐴
Avec l’arrivée d’une compréhension plus profonde du cheval et surtout d’une envie de respecter sa nature et sa volonté, un flot de culpabilité, de doute et d'injonction au « lâcher prise » s’en est suivi.
On est passés de "contrôler et enfermer complètement son cheval" à "le laisser seul dans ses apprentissages et ses émotions". Hors, nous le faisons toujours vivre dans un monde domestique pour lequel il n’a pas été conçu ni préparé. 👀
❌ Il n'est pas naturel pour un cheval de :
- respecter une clôture
- accepter autant de chevaux dans un petit espace
- rester dans une même parcelle de terrain
- se laisser toucher le corps et le visage par nos mains
- se faire grimper dessus par des primates (nous en l’occurrence)
- être seul et séparé régulièrement de son troupeau (la fameuse balade du dimanche)
- etc…
Tant de choses qui nous paraissent anodines mais qui peuvent être source de stress et d’anxiété pour lui! 😨
Malheureusement, nous le laissons souvent seul dans ses émotions face à ces situations. 😪 Hors, comme nous, le cheval a besoin de se sentir en sécurité et en confiance pour vivre sereinement.
Souvent englués dans la culpabilité de lui imposer quoique ce soit et la peur de mal faire 😥 nous nous sommes défaussés de ce rôle d’accompagnant, de guide, d'éducateur pour notre cheval. Nous ne l'outillons pas émotionnellement pour qu’il puisse vivre sereinement dans le monde domestique dans lequel il est né.
Selon moi, il est important d’oser reprendre cette place de guide. Même si vous faites des erreurs, même si vous êtes vous aussi en apprentissage. Aidez-le à comprendre ce qui l'entoure et ce qu'on lui demande, en douceur et dans l'écoute.
🤓📚 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐳-𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐬, 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐳-𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐬, 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐳. Équipez-le, préparez-le émotionnellement et physiquement à la vie qui l’attend. 💪
Cela ne vous rendra pas pas supérieur à lui, et ne fera pas de vous son chef ou son dominant. Mais vous deviendrez un compagnon précieux pour votre cheval. 🌟🐎
