A recent client sent this of her two dogs. Just had to share with you! So beautiful all 3 of them. Your pet could not have a better day hiking in the mountains. Be sure to get your dogs our to nature often! Beaches, lakes, mountains, not just a 'walk'. To stay in true balance with their nature, they need to be in touch often with their roots.

Dogs like us, get bored if have nothing to do. Firstly, get them exercised running if possible whenever leaving at home for half day or so....and have frozen kong filled in advance with leftovers packed inside.😋 Keeps them busy! And especially for dogs with any separation anxiety.

Wanted to share with you a great car tether for dogs that need to stay put. I recommend you teach your dog to jump in on command and sit, but for those not quite there, and not chewers, here's a terrific set up! No excuse to not take your dog out to get socialized and to enjoy car rides!

Children are great dog trainers! This darling foster kid is using reward based training to teach Blu, who is for adoption. Even kids can help a rescued dog on its way! Dogs are motivated by food, so use yummy treats!

TRAINING TIP:
I frequently explain to my clients how to teach their dog as you go about your day to day activities as well as adventurous outings. Here is an easy way to teach your dog on a hike to STAY. "Up", onto the rock, and "Stay" as you back slowly away using Stay signal with your hand . Wait an amount of time your dog can maintain, then Release.🐕‍🦺🐾

FEEDING TIPS: These food Kongs are one of the best ways to feed your dog kibble. Gives them something to do to occupy their time rather than gobble a bowl, and they they have fun! This dog was just pulled from an animal shelter and having sooo much fun! Dogs need to also use their brain, not just physical exercise, the also need mental stimulation. This is easy for them, but at least gives them something to focus on.😎

Alaska's puppies are 6 weeks old now enjoying playing and cuddling. Handraised from rescued homeless very pregnant mama found at the dump scrounging for food. The pups are now ready for adoption. Absolute sweethearts!

Have you ever seen a dog eat his meal out of a ball like this? They are great! Gives your pet an activity he enjoys rather than gobbling up his food from a dish. This toy enriches his mind as well. Rowdy is actually for adoption, his foster mom in Calgary got him this.

People are taught to put hands out for dogs to smell, but actually, waiting for the dog or puppy to come to you is what works for a dog.

Giving rawhide chews to puppies is one way to keep them busy! Also helps with teething and from chewing things you don't want them too. This was a recent bedtime activity at the Rocky Mountain Animal rescue center since they weren't ready to sleep! When rawhide gets soft from chewing remove it and the rawhide hardens, then give to chew again later. You don't want them eating it. I also make sure they had a good meal so they're not hungry prior to giving a rawhide.

This isn't really a case of a dog not recognizing his owner per se, instead, it goes to show dogs first line of defence, or meeting, is with their nose. Humans: eyes, dogs: nose.

PUPPY RECALL! One of the best ways and I have found to teach a puppy recall is to take off eash on a hike or dog park and teach it to check in. Once the puppy comes back to you give it real happy verbal praise for checking in. After a while call puppy to you when you know you will succeed, and again, Happy Praise!

PUPPY RECALL! Pups follow their mom and/or whoever is the pack leader by nature. Take your puppy to an area free of cars and happily call them to you. Then give them cuddles and keep on walking! Do this over and over dozens of times, every day at dog parks, hiking, back yard, anywhere you can safely have them off leash.

Attending an adoption event yesterday and speaking with pet owners with questions they had about their pet. The most frequent one was how to get their dog to start pulling. My first question to them was, how often do you take your dog off leash to run. Wouldn't you know it. Everyone I spoke to that had leash pulling problems did not allow their pet off leash. Only on leash walks. Their dogs never got to run!
