Another year has passed, and there is still no home for Persey. He celebrated his 2nd Christmas and soon to be 2nd New Years Eve with his foster family.

Rex, , is seemingly lining up to take after Perseys paw steps. For Rex, this was his first Christmas / New Years with the rescue, being with his foster family for 8 months now.

These big boys are not having luck finding moms. Where are all the big boy loving people?

If you are interested in our boys, please click the petfinder link for their bios or send me a PM or Email to [email protected]

Big Boys need homes too 💙💔

❗Pumpkin Spice Is Pleasant to Smell, but Harmful to Pets❗

Air fresheners (both aerosol sprays and plug-ins), scented candles, wax melts, incense and other products may mask unpleasant odors and make your home smell delicious, but they also disperse airborne toxins ☠️. These include formaldehyde, naphthalene, phthalates and volatile organic compounds, which can cause a multitude of health issues in pets. ⚠️

Learn more about the health risks of air-scenting products to pets, along with pet-safe ways to keep your home smelling fresh and seasonal, in today’s free pet blog post on our website: https://bit.ly/46g0vfu

WARNING WHEN FREEZING TREAT TOYS!

Please ensure that if you are stuffing treat toys and freezing them for your pets to help keep them cool, don't forget to ensure there is a HOLE ALL OF THE WAY THROUGH IT.

WHY YOU MAY ASK ?

Toys such as Kongs have 2 holes in their toys for a reason - to prevent suction.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT ?

When your pet licks at the contents of the toy or squeezes it in its mouth, their tongue can get SUCKED into the hole and get STUCK on the dogs tongue. This can cause horrific injuries to the point where the animal can actually die.

Having 2 HOLES in the toy PREVENTS this from happening. So if you STUFF your toys with treats, push a straw through it to ensure the 2 HOLES ARE NOT BLOCKED. If you are going to FREEZE the toy, do so with the straw in place and then remove when giving it to you pet.

Thank you Julie Grady for this information.

IMPORTANT: We love Kong’s and we are not saying do not use Kong’s. But with any toy and treat, it is best to supervise your pup. Things can happen at any time and we want to make sure your pup is safe.

Animals are more than a moment's surprise. Depending on the animal, they can be a decades-long commitment.

Humane Canada believes that acquiring an animal should be a deliberate and conscious decision. This impacts the immediate and future well-being of the animal, and we are opposed to awarding live animals as a prize or unsolicited present.

Gifting a pet may be appropriate if it has been ensured that the recipient of the gift or the ultimate caregiver has a desire for the animal, clearly understands the responsibility involved in caring for the animal and is committed and able to do so in the long-term.

Please think twice and be sure it is the right choice for both the animal and the caregiver before gifting an animal.

It’s been a beautiful week in the City of London! ☀️ The London Police Service is reminding community members to NEVER leave children or pets inside the car unattended. Vehicles heat up in a matter of seconds and rolling down the window does not help. If you have errands to run, leave your pets at home. 🐕

Dog Poisoned by the Diffuser
Saturday night I got home late and my dog didn't recognize me. Being a nanny I thought I woke him up and he was having a night terror. Sunday, he was still acting weird. I realized that I had been running my new diffuser and decided to turn it off. Sunday afternoon, he was feeling better.

Today at work, my dog sitter said that he wouldn't come out from under the bed. It was very odd as he is a happy dog.

I came from work early and again, he was very confused about who I was.

So I took him to emergency vet.

It turns out that the tea tree oil I was using in the diffuser is toxic for dogs. Thankfully the test showed that his liver was ok but we weren't out of the woods yet. He was given fluids under his skin to get the toxins out.

The vet and the poison control are saying that they see these cases often now that the popularity of essential oil is growing.

Please make sure that the essential oils you are burning are not toxic for your pets.

Here is a list of essential oils not to use if you have a dog at home

Anise (Pimpinella anisum)
Birch (Betula)
Bitter Almond (Prunus dulcis)
