The Spanky Project is returning to H@vana in less than three weeks to teach a course in surgery for female vet students and young female veterinarians.

Vet schools in Cub@ do not teach surgery, except in theory, because they do not have the materials to do hands on teaching. It is up to students interested in surgery to get their own training, and this is more difficult for women than men. 

The Spanky Project aims to provide this training so that more women can work with us as surgeons on our sterilization campaigns.

If not for you...

The Spanky Project has done very little in the way of fundraising since the beginning of Covid. We were only able to do a few events to offer free parasite treatments for most of that time. We have asked for flea treatments from our Amazon wish list and our supporters came through in a big way. But we didn't feel right about asking for donations to fund our sterilization campaigns when we weren't doing surgery.

Well, times have changed and we did 645 surgeries in June. Guess what!?! Our bank account reflects that!

We are taking a team of veterinary professionals to Trinidad, a city about five hours outside of Havana on Sept 9th, and we will do three days of surgery. We have covered the cost of our medications and supplies, but we could sure use some help with the following costs:

Transportation $800
Lodging $650
Meals $1650
TOTAL $3100

On this day 2020, in the midst of the global pandemic, the world lost a great SPIRIT.
My dear Cuban friend JUSTO passed away.
Friend and Spanky Project Family member since 2006.
We have yet to hold a Spay/Neuter Campaña since his passing.
But when we do I know he will be with us.
