Our holistic breeding model means we follow the dams lead and comfort level when handling the pups for the first few weeks. Trusting her closest family, we are allowed to hold each puppy for individual cuddle sessions.

Mothering style during the first weeks of life can greatly affect the outcome for puppies. Being licked activates the Glucocorticoid Receptor which regulates and controls responses to stress. When puppies are not licked, the GR gene remains dormant unless it can be stimulated with frequent soft brushing. This can lead to dogs with less confidence and an increased fear response when stressed.

Early Neurological Stimulation Exercises are done to improve cardiovascular performance and build stronger adrenal glands. This means stronger heart beats, greater stress tolerance, and a greater resistance to disease.

Early Scent Introduction is exposing puppies to a different pungent scent found in the home each day. The activity promotes nose awareness building confidence in dogs. Some of the scents we utilize are garlic, rosemary, and orange peel.

A throwback to when April was a baby. She was raised in the whelping box. With each new puppy, April learned respect and the power of connection. Building trust she has learned to understand their needs. April is their voice, loving them each for who they are and their individual personalities.

Twin Pines K9 is excited to expand our family. Over the last 4 months, our program has focused on education and growth. With additional room for raising and training, we are more excited than ever for our upcoming puppies. A lot of information will be posted in the coming days so stay tuned as we share our plans for 2023.

Prospective families and current puppy families are welcome to join us for a coffee hour from 11AM to 1PM on Saturday (weather permitting).

Before visiting our facility, please do not spend time with any dogs or puppies, or visit ANY pet
stores, shelters, humane societies, dog parks etc. for a minimum of 72 hours prior to {the day of
the visit}. Parvo is a very dangerous, highly contagious canine virus that can be innocently
transmitted on clothing and shoes. It will kill an entire litter, if they are exposed.

Before you visit our facility, please make sure you are wearing close-toed shoes, with a
sole. We recommend not wearing valuable shoes. Please use hand sanitizer after you exit your vehicle.

What's your coffee time routine? I use my morning coffee break for a little puppy massage time! is my Favorite Time.

1. Rub and gently tug on their ears
2. Cover their eyes for 3-5 seconds
3. Open their mouth, inspect their teeth and place your finger inside of their mouth. You can rub their tongue
and gums. I also always watch teeth to ensure they are coming in correctly. Every once in a while, issues with
tooth eruption do occur.
4. Rub their belly and chest in a wide circular motion.
5. Run your hand up their back (from tail to head) a few times to ruffle their fur. Also practice “heavy petting” -
patting your pup’s back like you are burping a baby
6. Gently tug and twist their tail.
7. Rub your fingers in between all of their pads on their paws
8. Tap on the tip of their nails
9. Put your hands on their collar and apply a slight tug or pressure
10. Touch their nose!
