I haven't updated on my Noel in a week but here he is today at Canada West vet for a check up. I wanted to wait and be sure of his progress as he had a setback on Dec 31st and I had to rush him back for what was thought to be a blood clot or stroke but tests came back showing neither happened, although there was a chance that it was a very small clot in a small blood vessel that the ultrasound could see so he is on some preventative meds
They were very happy with his progress and to see him so happy,
We did get results back on the tumor and it was cancerous so next we start a chemotherapy plan to kill and cancer cells that may be there. Friday we have our oncology appointment and we start planning.
Thanks for all the messages asking for an update, it's day 11 since this all started and he's been through a lot but he's coming through very well so far.
Noel was very excited to see all the staff and this pic is just after he walked out of the reception area where he had go in to say hi to everyone.

Congratulations to Logan who is officially cancer free.
This boy has been through so much since his rescue day on May 14th when he was found lifeless lying on a parking lot in the heat.
He couldn't stand up and was left dying on that parking lot but thankfully Mayela saw him, picked him up.and took him to our vet, that's pic 2 and his rescue trip to get help.
Logan was soon able to stand and slowly gained health, it was later discovered that he was a distemper survivor and that causes spasms in his body but he learned to live with it and we hoped that was it.
However it was then discovered that he had cancer and so treatments were started.
Logan's recovery though all this has been quite amazing, he had such little odds to survive yet he's beat everything in his way and now we can say he's beat cancer.
He's such a happy boy who adores his people and loves all his dog friends.
Caring for dogs and especially dogs who need so much care is a big commitment and I thank Mayela and Adrian for his rescue, opening their home and lives to give him everything he needed to survive and be healthy.
Congratulations Logan.

Sunday's by Emma,
When you go all out playing and socializing all week, you need a day to just relax.
She was rescued, abandoned and on her own at 3 months old, and now she lives her best life that requires these well deserved moments.

I have some updates to start sharing, I've been quiet on here for a few days but it's still been busy in Vancouver and Puerto Vallarta.
Here's Lupita and she's at the vet this morning to have her eye checked out, hopefully nothing serious, she's a young healthy dog so we hope the best, possibly got a paw in the eye when playing but you never know.
When you have so many dogs in care, lots of things happen at at anytime and that's why Josefina is at our vet almost daily all year.

Here's Cooper who is our 2 year old boy available for adoption.
Cooper loves the dog park, he wants to say hi to all people and dogs, he's definitely the social leader at the park, he also loves trails, hikes, the beach and just being outdoors.
He's a really sweet guy who will be your best companion on adventures and relaxing at home.
This is a bit of him enjoying the dog park where he was the fun ambassador.
Cooper's bio and application are on our website.

We want to wish everyone a happy new year, each year I've had a video recapping the year and a list of thank yous.
And I still will but the end of the year had me absorbed with my Noel's medical issues and the adoptions of Bella and Molly.
This morning I had to rush Noel back to the hospital but things have come out positive so far thankfully.
Here we are today at Canada West and then i had to include a pic of Noel and Liam.
So much has happened over the years, many rescues, adoptions, losses, but we keep going on.
I'm short of doing a review at the moment, just love and appreciate each moment with your dogs, cats or any other furry family members.
Josefina is now gathering all the dogs in her home to comfort them during the fireworks and I'm with my Liam, waiting to bring Noel home again tomorrow.
We have some much more to be thankful for this year but right now Noel, Liam and I wish you a happy new year.

Also a very big thankyou to everyone who had donated this and any year, it all goes directly to help rescue and care for dogs and other animals.
Thank you

Here's the girls Molly and Bella passed out after a walk and a trip to Dashing Dawgs to get their nails clipped.
They have a very big day tomorrow and I'll have more on that as it happens.
It's going to be a very good evening, more on that later but also a very big day for these 2 tomorrow.

Here's my Noel and I was able to spend time with him today, it's not been 24 hours since surgery but he's improving, heart rate, blood pressure, platelets improving.
He's on IV pain medication so he was still groggy but he picked right up when he heard me call his name when i walked in, he even started to eat and wanted more and more food from me.
Day 1 post surgery is going well and he's getting great round the clock care.
It's wasn't easy leaving him but I'll be back tomorrow and everyday until he's ready to continue his rehabilitation at home.

UPDATE
Noel has made it through surgery and is recovering well so far, the mass was successfully removed, the bleeding has stopped and the mass will go for tests to see if it's cancerous but the surgery went as well as they hoped. Tomorrow I'll be able to see him.
This morning I thought he was not going to make it to the vet but he did, then it was off to an emergency clinic for surgery where I wasn't sure if he'd make it through. It will be a long night but I can see him Sunday afternoon.
Thank you for all your messages and support, so many of you go through these things and I've spoken to you about them over the 6 years About A Dog has been around, today it was my day to see my Noel suffering and not sure if he would survive.
Thank you and muchas gracias for all the support here and in Puerto Vallarta.

Here's my Noel and right now he's getting ready for surgery, which I had no idea we would be doing this morning.
He collapsed this morning after our walk and after tests, he has a mass on his spleen and internal bleeding.
Now I'm waiting for the call that surgery is starting and then waiting for the call to tell me he made it through.
Not easy walking away from him so that he could be prepped but immediately surgery was the only option.
Now the anxious waiting begins hoping I get to see my special boy tomorrow after a success surgery.

Today we are wishing one of our vets and good friend Armando the best as he recovers from a terrible accident.
On Dec 1st while returning home from visiting his children he was hit by a car while on his bike, it was a hit and run and he was left with severe injuries, he has had a leg amputated and suffered broken bones in his jaw, cheeks, nasal cavity and just suffered many injuries.
Armando has cared for our dogs since day 1 and he and others there are more than just a vet, they are very involved in helping us that goes beyond what is expected.
Despite his serious injuries he has a great attitude and just wants to be able to walk again with a new leg and be able to work.
There is a go fund me to help with medical costs, I'll be donating and it will be on behalf of the rescue and our adoptors but if anyone wants to contribute, just let us know and we can send the link.

Yesterday and the season is very special for many of the dogs including Benj (formerly Chuby) and Emma, both had their first holiday season.
For Emma it's her irst as she born in 2024 but Benji has lived through a few holidays yet they were spent living in the streets, but this year he had his very own family to spend it with.
Both were very spoiled and loved this year, living the lives they deserve.

Here's Molly and Bella opening their first stockings and although unsure but curious at first, they quickly understood it was all treats for them.
They have eaten and chewed a lot this morning but I'm working on the biggest gift they will ever receive, a family, hopefully soon they will receive that.
Merry Christmas from Molly and Bella

Merry Christmas and Feliz Navidad, from Vancouver to Puerto Vallarta we wish you all a happy holiday.

One year in the life of Jaisy (now Roo), that's her now in her home with her family waiting for Christmas and then 1 year ago with me in her Xmas sweater.
She was spoiled over the holidays in 2023 but nothing compares to being spoiled by your own family and that's what's happening for Roo in 2024.
Happy holidays Roo

It's Maggie (formerly Keyla) and she's getting ready for another holiday with her family, and I know she's going to be very spoiled as she deserves.
Most importantly very loved, Maggie lives the amazing life she deserves.
Happy holidays and feel free to share pics of your dogs enjoying the holidays too.

About A Dog Rescue Society

Our rescue, based in Vancouver BC was started in October 2018. Our team has worked together previously to rescue and re-home dogs and we decided to take our passion and create a group of our own.

Our dogs come from various backgrounds, some as simple as owner surrenders, and others coming from situations of neglect and abandonment. We currently work with an amazing rescue group in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and hope to further expand our rescue efforts worldwide. Our rescue knows no boundaries.

We are a registered non-profit and rely solely on donations. Every penny raised goes straight to the dogs or towards spay/neuter clinics and initiatives.
