Want your business to be the top-listed Pet Store/pet Service?
At Applecross Veterinary Hospital we believe in promoting animal health through preventive and modern veterinary medicine. We are constantly working to to give your pet the best possible care. We are a full service veterinary hospital, some of our services include: Wellness Plans A Wellness Plan is a group of preventive medicine products and services offered to our clients at a discounted rate and billed monthly. This falls under our belief that preventive medicine will help prevent future disease, or allow for earlier treatment of existing or developing disease. For example: annual blood work, dental cleanings, etc. Dental Suite Your pet’s teeth are an integral part of his or her overall health. Teeth require yearly cleaning, and this cleaning can greatly increase the life span and quality of life of your pet. Unlike us, pets are not happy to open their mouths for a cleaning and require a full anaesthesia in order to have their teeth properly cleaned and examined. We will scale the teeth to remove tartar and plaque build-up and polish them to smooth the enamel. This is done to remove small wear marks which can encourage the development of plaque and tartar. Onsite Laboratory We are proud to offer many on site laboratory services. This allows our doctors to quickly assess diagnostics to help better form a treatment plan for our sick patients. We are also able to offer lab services for our elderly patients who come in for their yearly vaccinations. Routine testing for blood counts and chemistries are done with state-of-the art equipment in the hospital and are available within hours. Among the laboratory services offered: ◦Feline leukemia & FIV testing ◦Fecal floatation ◦Urinalysis and microscopic examination of urine ◦Complete blood counts ◦Blood chemistry and electrolytes ◦Cytology (microscopic examination of cells) of the skin and ears ◦Culture and sensitivity ◦Diabetes diagnosis and control ◦Hormone levels, such as thyroid, cortisol, and progesterone ◦Histology (microscopic examination of tumor cells) ◦Testing for parasites such as giardia Please ask our staff about our geriatric panels, pre-aesthetic panels, and paediatric panels. We use several out of the clinic laboratories for services that we can not offer in order to provide the best care possible. These other test results are usually available within 24 hours. Personalized Vaccinations Vaccinations are an important component of your pet’s wellness and will help prevent serious illnesses from developing. After a consultation with you on your pets life style and a thorough an examination of your pet our veterinarians will determine an appropriate vaccines protocol. If you are traveling with your pet, please ensure that we are aware of where you are traveling to so that we can ensure your pet is covered for any diseases they may encounter at your travel destination. Radiology Our on-site X-ray equipment is helpful for examining masses, tumors, and potential obstructions, detecting cat or dog arthritis, and can discover hidden problems that may warrant further investigation. Surgery Our special combination of technology and know-how ensures that the animals we care for undergo only the safest and most effective surgery we can provide. With this in mind, we begin every surgery consultation with a thorough physical exam—including blood work—to determine whether your pet is healthy enough for anesthesia and to undergo surgery at the outset. From here, we will administer any necessary pre-surgerical medications and will continue to monitor and care for your animal’s condition post-operatively as needed. After Hours Service Emergencies Emergencies never happen when you expect them, and they never seem to happen during the doctor’s office hours. 24 hour emergency service is provided through the small animal emergency clinic at Central Island Veterinary Emergency Hospital (250) 933-0913.
